Brisbane Heat sealed a five-wicket win against Melbourne Renegades in their Big Bash League match on Monday at the Metricon Stadium. Chasing a target of 141 runs, Brisbane Heat reached 141 for five in 16.5 overs with Sam Heazlett smashing an unbeaten knock of 44 off 29 balls. The chase also saw opener Chris Lynn slam 32 off 15 balls for Brisbane. Zahir Khan was decent form for Melbourne, taking two wickets in four overs. Earlier, Mackenzie Harvey played an unbeaten knock of 71 off 56 balls during Melbourne's innings. Meanwhile, James Bazley took three wickets for Brisbane.

Brisbane Heat's bowling performance can be summarized as a group effort. All of the bowlers contributed, either by picking up wickets or by keeping the runs in check. Bartlett did leak a lot of runs but Liam Guthrie made up for it by just conceding 10 runs in four overs and also picking up a wicket. The spinners did a great job too as Mitchell Swepson got a wicket, while Mujeeb Ur Rahman caused trouble with his spin. James Bazley though was the star with the ball as he sent back 3 batters and did not leak runs either. Brisbane Heat batters will come out feeling confident of chasing this one down.

Melbourne Renegades started off their innings in the same old fashion with Sam Harper going hard at the bowling but not getting the purchase he would have liked. Harper departed early but then Mackenzie Harvey and Nic Maddinson, the skipper steadied the ship. Neither batter found it easy but got the Renegades in a good position. After Maddinson departed, Harvey kept on running out of partners. He did bring up a well-compiled half-century and ended up with 71 runs. Melbourne Renegades will be disappointed as they could only muster up 140-runs and will now have to heavily rely on their bowlers to win this match.

A really good contest between bat and ball in the first half and to be fair, Brisbane Heat will definitely be the happier team going into the break as they have restricted their opponents to an under-par score. Melbourne Renegades though will believe that they can defend this total as the wicket is not the easiest to bat on.
