Berlin:  Holland striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar has been treated by a German eye specialist after a ruptured blood vessel in his left eye forced him out of the Oranje's friendly with Italy on Wednesday.

The 29-year-old Schalke 04 star was treated in Duisburg, Germany, and needs another check up before he can be allowed to return to training with Schalke.

Huntelaar's fellow veteran Bayern Munich's Arjen Robben has been called up by Holland coach Louis van Gaal as cover.

Huntelaar, the league's top scorer last season, has been off form of late with just five league goals in 19 games, the last of which was back in November.
