5:21 IST: Argentina have won 2-1, thanks to Lionel Messi's goal in the 65th minute. It was a spirited Bosnia-Herzegovina that ran into the two-time world champions, who were just too good at the end.

4:53 AM: GOAL! After looking down and out through the game, Lionel Messi comes to his own and triggers a sensational goal as Argentina go 2-0 up in the 65th minute. The captain made a hash of a free kick only a minute ago but more than made up as the noise Argentinian fans went up in a roar. This was Messi's first World Cup goal in eight years.

4:48 IST: Bosnia have done well to mark Messi for most of the game; that has avoided an Argentinian carnage. Aguero hasn't been very effective and it's still early days for Higuain in the game.

4:39 IST: Bosnia made some moves towards the Argentinian goal in the second half but again without much success. Argentina still lead 1-0 in the 53rd minute.

4:17 IST: After a sedate first-half, it's Argentina 1 - Bosnia 0.

4:11 IST: Bosnia had been threatening to draw level and only a spectacular effort by goalkeeper Sergio Romero in the 41st minute to thwart Senad Lulic's header helped Argentina stay ahead.

4:02 IST: After 32 minutes, it's still 1-0 to Argentina, who got ahead only thanks to an own goal from Bosnia. The Argentinian super stars have been unable to score and their defence has come under attack from the opposition flank. Not very one-sided anymore.

3:25 IST: After Marcos Rojo gets a yellow card for a foul in the 25th minute and Bosnia are awarded a free kick from mid-range but they are unable to capitalise.

3:50 IST: After 20 minutes, Bosnia have not looked very overawed but Argentina have looked by far the better team, who are leading 1-0.

3:43 IST: Argentina have been relentless but Bosnia almost fought back through Izet Hajrovic but the Argentine defence was far too alert. They could have drawn level in the 13th minute.

3:33 IST: GOAL! Argentina have opened their scoring in the third minute through an own goal from Saed Kolasinac. They are 1-0 up. That was the third own goal of these World Cup finals.

3:30 IST: The national anthems done, Argentina and Bosnia are ready for their battle. One of the oldest World Cup powerhouses vs debutants.

3:18 IST: What a huge moment this is for Bosnia-Herzegovina as they make their World Cup debut. Whatever the result, today will be one of the most historic days for the country. As for the Argentinian fans, the World Cup is as good as theirs. Thousands of their supporters have already thronged the Maracana Stadium in Rio De Janeiro and they will be gunning for Messi and Aguero, who are, not surprisingly, in the starting line-up.

Lionel Messi will be the man to watch out for as Argentina take on World Cup first timers Bosnia-Herzegovina in a Group F clash. The South Americans are of course overwhelming favourites to win this one but it would be unwise to rule out any opponent in a 90-minute contest.

Lionel Messi will be attempting to cement his legacy as an all-time great when Argentina tackle Bosnia-Herzegovina in their World Cup Group F opener in Rio de Janeiro on Sunday.

Trophies, plaudits and individual honours have rained down upon the record-shredding 26-year-old Barcelona sensation over the past few years, but a signature showing at a major international tournament still eludes him.

Bosnia Won't Man Mark Lionel Messi , Says Coach Susic

Bosnia coach Safet Susic said on Monday he didn't plan to man-mark Argentine superstar Lionel Messi for his side's first ever World Cup showdown on Sunday in the Maracana.

"We never put a player on another ... We have (Muhamed) Besic but putting him only on Messi wouldn't be very good," said Susic after a 5-1 warm-up win over a youth select from Brazilian outfit Santos. (Read full story)
