Sreesanth gets 'final warning' from Kerala Board

Maverick pacer S Sreesanth on Sunday got the final warning from the Kerala Cricket Association for repeatedly violating the code of conduct.

Earlier this month, Indian Cricket Board too had given Sreesanth the final warning to mend his on-field behaviour, failing which he would be suspended from domestic matches.

The Board had also sent a missive to TC Mathews, secretary of KCA, to be handed to the player.

BCCI had warned Sreesanth against repeating the on-field misbehaviour he showed during the recent Irani Cup championship against Mumbai in Nagpur.

"You are hereby given a final warning to ensure that you do not violate the BCCI Code of Conduct. Any repetition of such behavior will be dealt with severely by the BCCI including suspension from domestic cricket matches," the letter had read.

However, that did not seem to deter the pacer, who was abstaining from coaching camp without prior permission.

According to KCA, Sreesanth was appointed as the captain of the Ranji team on October 10 with the intentions to bring him back into the national team. But since 12th when the camp began in Talisherry, Sreesanth has not attended the camp for a single day.

This has not gone down well with the selection committee in Kerala and the committee discussed the breach of conduct in detail.

In a letter to the cricketer by the KCA President said that any further recurrences of such incidents will be dealt seriously by the board.

The reasons, Sreesanth cited in an email to the KCA secretary, said that the cricketer wanted to attend Sabarimala and the wedding of Chief National Selector K Srikkanth's son. He also said that there was a conditioning camp for the Kings XI Punjab in New Delhi. In an enquiry the KCA found out that there was no such camp happening in New Delhi.

Knowing that the state board was disappointed with his behaviour, Sreesanth rushed down from Bangalore to join the camp on Saturday night.
