LIN DAN - THE MASTER DOES IT AGAIN
Olympic champion Lin Dan beat world title-holder Chen Long in an epic, all-Chinese badminton men's singles final where the young star came agonisingly close to taking the crown. Chen went a game up but defending champion Lin fought back to take the second before a show of power and agility in the third saw him win the match 12-21, 21-16, 21-16.
NORTH WINS INTER-KOREA SOCCER BATTLE
North Korea's women football team broke South Korean hearts when they won the semi-final between the rival neighbours 2-1 through an injury time goal. Japan beat Vietnam 3-0 so it will be the third straight final between the North and Japan on Thursday.
QATAR'S MUTAZ WINS HIGH JUMP GOLD
Qatar's Mutaz Essa Barshim took the Asian Games high jump gold with ease, but passed on a shot at the 21-year-old world record on a cold, wet night. Barshim, 23, had said he wanted to use the Asiad to take a shot at Cuban Javier Sotomayer's record of 2.45 metres after jumping 2.43m in the Diamond League earlier this month. But after two failed attempts at 2.40m, and with gold already safe, Barshim gave up.
WU BEGINS CHINA'S DIVING GOLD RUSH
Multiple Olympic champion Wu Minxia combined with partner Shi Tingmao to win the women's synchronised 3m springboard title as China successfully opened their bid to retain all 10 Asian Games diving gold medals. Chen Aisen and Zhang Yangquan added the men's synchronised 10m platform title for China in the day's other event
BEGINNERS LUCK FOR KUWAIT, SOUTH KOREA
Bad weather helped cricket minnows as South Korea beat China by six runs in a rain-curtailed match to enter the quarter-finals, and Kuwait progressed on a coin-toss after their match against Maldives was washed out. The Koreans play Sri Lanka in Tuesday's quarter-final, while Kuwait take on defending champions Bangladesh on Wednesday.
