The two beat the third-seeded Canadian-Serbian pair of Daniel Nestor and Nenad Zimonjic 3-6, 7-6, 6-3, 6-4.

The Indo-Czech pair of Paes and Stepanek found it hard to hold serve in the first set and were broken twice as they lost 6-3 after 34 minutes of play.

Once the second set started, they were back in their groove and kept the pressure on their opponents by racing through their service games.

Paes and Stepanek will next face either the second-seeded Austrian-Brazilian combination of Alexander Peya and Bruno Soares or the unseeded big-serving Canadian-US pair of Vasek Pospisil and Jack Sock in the semifinals.
