Youngest men to win 10 Grand Slam titles

With his 6th title at Roland Garros, not only did Rafael Nadal equal Bjorn Borg's record of French Open titles, but also put his name under Borg in the record books in another category. Nadal became the second youngest man, after the Swedish great, to reach 10 major titles.

Bjorn Borg (1980 Wimbledon) — 24 years, 30 days

Borg got to the mark in 1980 with a thrilling 5-setter win over great rival John McEnroe, in what is cited as one of the best Wimbledon final ever played. It was also his fifth consecutive Wimbledon singles title. Borg would go on to win one more major title, the French Open in 1981, before an early retirement in 1983, aged 26.

Rafael Nadal (2011 French Open) — 25 years, 2 days

The Spaniard has continued to achieve one milestone after another. With his recent victory at Roland Garros, defeating arch-rival Roger Federer, Nadal won his 10th Grand Slam title just 2 days after his 25th birthday, becoming the 2nd youngest male player to achieve the feat. How many more will Rafa be able to add to that would be interesting to see?

Roger Federer (2007 Australian Open) — 25 years, 173 days

The Swiss maestro is not too far behind his arch-nemesis Nadal, taking 171 more days than him to achieve the 10 slams. Federer got to the landmark in January 2007, beating Chilean Fernando Gonzalez in the final of the Australian Open. It was a golden year for Federer with the Swiss winning 3 of the 4 majors, the only missing trophy being the French open that he lost to Rafa. Federer is still going strong and can surely be expected to add to his tally of 16 slams.

Pete Sampras (1997 Wimbledon) — 25 years, 328 days

Before Federer stamped his authority, the tennis courts were ruled by Sampras, with the Wimbledon grass being his favourite hunting ground as well. And, it was at this venue in 1997 that Sampras beat Cédric Pioline to win his 10th Grand Slam at the age of 25 years and 328 days. The American went on to win 14 majors, a record broken by Federer at the 2009 French Open.

Roy Emerson (1966 Australian Open) — 29 years, 89 days

The Australian was a late bloomer, not winning his first Grand Slam until after turning 24. So, it's no surprise that he was already 29 years and 89 days old when he got his 10th slam. He defeated another great, Arthur Ashe to triumph at his home tournament, the Australian Open in 1966 to reach the mark. Emerson went on to win 2 more Grand Slams and still stands 3rd in the list of the men with the most singles title, behind Federer and Sampras.

Rod Laver (1969 Wimbledon) — 30years, 330 days

The Australian holds several records to his name. He is the only tennis player to have twice won the 'Grand Slam' - all four major singles titles in the same year – first as an amateur in 1962 and second as a professional in 1969. The same year in '69, Laver had won his 10th major title at the age of 30 years and 330 days when he emerged victorious at Wimbledon. His next win at the US Open would also be his last major title.
