Seventh seed Andy Murray registered a hard fought 6-1, 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 victory over Kazakhstan's Andrey Golubev in the first round of French Open.

Second seed Li Na, who won French Open in 2011, lost 5-7, 6-3, 1-6 to unseeded Kristina Mladenovic of France in the first round.

Heartbroken Caroline Wozniacki slipped to a 7-6 (7/5), 4-6, 6-2 defeat to Belgium's Yanina Wickmayer in the first round of French Open.

David Ferrer beat Igor Sijsling to enter the second round.

Fourth seed Simona Halep defeated Alisa Kleybanova of Russia 6-0, 6-2 to advance to second round.
