Fedex came out with intent in the first set and was tested by Murray early on.

Andy Murray played a good game testing Roger ultimately triumphing to take the first set 6-4.

Roger responded in typical Fedex style as he had Murray reaching for the ball in the second set.

Murray for once seemed to have no answer and the second set went to Federer 7-6 courtesy a hard fought tie-breaker.

The third set saw Murray take a much more aggressive approach as he took the fight to Fedex.

His perseverance paid off as Roger could not keep up with the pace and Murray got the lead in the match wi8nning the third set 6-3.

But Roger Federer displayed his true class as a champion as he produced some excellent tennis in the fourth set and it seemed that it would go down the wire.

Andy Murray rallied hard but Fedex was equal to the task winning yet another tie-breaker to take the set 7-6. This meant the 5th set would be the decider.

Fedex was found wanting in the 5th set as Murray gained the upper hand but it remained to be seen if the Scotsman could hold his nerve on the brink against the more experienced Swiss.

Andy Murray did hold his nerve when it mattered and won the 5th set 6-2. This was the first time he had beaten Roger Federer in a Grand Slam and will now face Novak Djokovic in the final on Sunday.
