Former Indian Test cricketer Chetan Chauhan feels Virat Kohli has the ability to break batting legend Sachin Tendulkar's record in both Tests and ODIs.
Talking to mediapersons on the occasion of the inauguration of a cricket match between veterans here yesterday, Chauhan, who was the chief guest, said the way Kohli had been performing in recent months it appeared he could overtake Tendulkar.
He said except for Kohli and Dhoni, there were no consistent performers in the Indian batting line-up.
"The openers and the middle-order failed to give a good account of themselves and it seemed they had forgotten how to score runs," Chauhan said.
"As for the bowling, it was second rate throughout, Ishant Sharma failing to cash in on the chances he got."
Chauhan advocated the inclusion of Cheteshwar Pujara in the ODI squad.
