That's all from this game - A blockbuster contest is coming up right here in Birmingham as India and Pakistan lock horns. The toss has already taken place, with India opting to bat first, and the stage is set for one of the biggest fixtures in world cricket. Switch tabs and join us for all the action. See you there!
The skipper of Bangladesh Women - Nigar Sultana is pleased with the way her side executed their plans. She says the side started really well with the ball, singling out Marufa Akter for delivering exactly what was expected of her. She also praises the rest of the bowling unit, particularly the spinners, and feels they achieved what they had set out to do in the first innings. On the chase, Nigar highlights the positive intent shown by Juairiya Ferdous, noting that the opener looked like she was enjoying herself in the middle, while Dilara Akter provided good support. She admits there was a bit of drama during the chase, but is delighted that Sharmin Akhter and Shorna Akter kept their composure to take the team over the line.
The captain of Netherlands Women - Babette de Leede admits that they weren't clinical in all departments. Mentions that they really didn't get going with the bat and lost too many wickets on the way. Adds that Bangladesh got off to a flier in the chase, with a few dropped catches not helping their cause either. On the positives, she points to their spinners bowling really well to get them back into the game, adding that they stayed in it till the last over and take away plenty of learning from the experience overall.
Time to hear from the captains...
Earlier in the game - After Bangladesh elected to bowl first, they struck at regular intervals, but Dutch skipper Babette de Leede held the innings together for her side. Babette fell at a crucial juncture, but despite her dismissal, the Netherlands found a way to reach 139. The late flourish with the bat gave them a bit of momentum and belief heading into their bowling effort, even if the total was slightly below what they would have ideally wanted.
A wobble, but no derailment - Chasing 140, Bangladesh were given the perfect platform by Juairiya Ferdous, whose positive approach at the top ensured they got off to a solid start. There was a brief wobble in the middle overs as they slipped from 67/0 to 85/4, allowing the Netherlands a way back into the contest. However, the early work done by Ferdous meant the task at hand was never overly daunting. It became a case of batting sensibly, and Bangladesh found calm heads in Shorna Akter and Sharmin Akhter. The pair ensured there were no further hiccups with an unbeaten 56-run stand to steer their side home.
PLAYER OF THE MATCH - Juairiya Ferdous has been given the award for her entertaining knock of 50 runs from 33 balls. Ferdous, on her approach, mentions that it's her first World Cup match and mentions that she saw the pitch was flat. And with the target being 140, they wanted to use the Powerplay fully as openers. About how she feels, Ferdous takes her time and says she cannot put into words how she is feeling right now and says it's a huge achievement for her. Adds that all the players in the squad have supported her. Ends by saying that she will continue to give her best in the next games.
Bangladesh get over the line - The Tigeresses are up and running in the 2026 Women's T20 World Cup. They have pulled off their highest successful run chase in the history of the tournament and have marked their first-ever international appearance in England with a memorable victory. It was a historic day for the Netherlands, who played their maiden game in the tournament. While the result did not go their way, they will take plenty of heart from the fight they showed with the ball.

FOUR! That will do it. Bangladesh Women win by 6 wickets. This is their third-highest successful run chase in Women's T20Is, as per the on-air commentators and their highest in the T20 World Cups. A special moment indeed for them and their joy knows no bounds. Tough luck for the Dutch women, who gave it their all but have to settle for a defeat in their maiden World Cup outing. Coming to the ball, Iris bowls it fuller and outside off. Shorna Akter get the front leg out of her way and smashes it over the mid off fielder for a boundary to get the job done for her team.
Down to the final over. The Dutch are in need of something really special, with Bangladesh needing 3 runs from 6 balls. Iris Zwilling to bowl.

Bangladesh can breathe easy. Down leg by Iris, on a length. Sharmin Akhter shapes up to tickle it fine but misses. The ball seems to have grazed something before it went behind. A good take by Babette de Leede by staying low and moving to her left. The Dutch seemed to have heard something, and they take the review. However, there was no bat, confirmed by the UltraEdge.
Strangled down leg? Not given by the umpire and Babette de Leede has taken the review. There was a noise as the ball went through to the keeper. The UltraEdge confirms that there is no bat involved.
