Somdev Devvarman knocked out of China Open in first round
It was a comfortable win for the Spaniard Fernando Verdasco despite first set heroics by Somdev Devvarman. Verdasco faces Novak Djokovic in the next round.

Fernando Verdasco raced past a spirited Somdev Devvarman in straight sets to knock the Indian out in the first round of the ATP tour's China Open on Tuesday.
Ranked 97, the 28-year-old Indian lost 7-6(8/6), 6-3 to the rank 31 Spaniard. Novak Djokovic is Verdasco's next opponent.
According to reports received here, Somdev was up 6-2 in the first set tie-breaker before Verdasco won six straight points to deflate the Indian.
Earlier, the Indian ace had recorded a 3-6, 7-6(5), 6-3 win over his Italian opponent Paolo Lorenzi, who is placed 12 places above Somdev, to qualify for the ATP China Open singles event.
