Former champion Amelie Mauresmo made heavy work of her first-round match at Wimbledon before improving her serve to overcome 54th-ranked Melinda Czink of Hungary 6-1, 4-6, 6-2.
The former top-ranked Frenchwoman hit 10 aces on Court 3 despite losing her rhythm in the second set.
Czink, whose best performance at Wimbledon was reaching the second round in 2006, saved three match points on her serve at 5-2 in the third but could not defend the fourth, when Mauresmo put away a sharply angled forehand.
