Re-scheduled IOA elections will now take place on December 5

The Indian Olympic Association elections will now take place on December 5. This after the previous scheduled date - November 25 - had to be deferred due to the resignation of the then Chairman  of the Election Commission Dr. S.Y.Quraishi.

The Indian Olympic Association elections will now take place on December 5. This after the previous scheduled date - November 25 - had to be deferred due to the resignation of the then Chairman  of the Election Commission Dr. S.Y.Quraishi.


After the resignation of Dr. S.Y.Quraishi, the remaining two members of the Commission, Returning Officer Justice V.K.Bali (Retd.) and Justice J.D.Kapoor (Retd.) had postponed the Scrutiny of the nomination till appointment of the new Chairman of the Commission.

This was followed by the appointment of Justice Anil Dev Singh, Retired Chief Justice of Rajasthan High Court as Chairman by IOA.

According to the latest schedule of the elections released by Justice Bali, the scrutiny of nominations will be held on November 24 while withdrawal of nominations will be from November 25 to 29.

The elections will take place from 1400 hrs on December 5.
