P Kashyap's title hopes went up in smoke after the ace Indian shuttler suffered a straight-game defeat to Rajiv Ouseph of England in the final of the Open Volant d'Or in Toulouse, France.
Third-seed Kashyap lost 11-21, 12-21 against second-seed Rajiv on Sunday to settle for the runners trophy.
Kashyap, who is India's wild card entry to the World Championship in Hyderabad in August, had also finished second in last week's Spanish International.
