New Delhi:
"She has a great quality she gets back hard. She's out there playing each match 100% these days. Her net has improved; in fact many strokes have improved. She needs to continuously improve & work on areas of weakness", said coach Gopichand.
"She is very good...very calm...does get excited especially in last few matches where she was leading & lost...but she's just 19...last year she had good semi-final results"
On people's expectations from the young badminton sensation, Gopichand said, "People say why doesn't she get into finals? They have to understand that she's a young kid & still learning".
Mr Harvir Singh, Saina's father, rejoiced while speaking to NDTV as his daughter became the first Indian to win the elite tournament.
"It's a matter of pride for India & Haryana. I have put my whole love & monetary effort into her".
"She spoke to me & was so confident & simply said papa you see my match...that's all she said. We don't get Neo sports so I watched it on the net", said the proud father.
Her father has always pumped her up whenever she needed him and said she's a strong girl who never shows her emotions when she faces defeat.
"It's a morale boost for her. If she loses she never shows it. She discusses with me and I always tell her, you will win the world is yours".
Saina's father also said that the young achiever doesn't want to train abroad and is very happy with coach Gopichand's efforts.
"She said Gopichand is best for me I will not train abroad. India should think if Saina can do why not others particularly Haryana".
"What a gift on Father's Day", exclaimed Mr Singh.
