Bundesliga breaks through two billion barrier

Germany's top tier clubs announced a turnover of 2.08 billion euros for the 2011/12 season , up 7.4 percent, an increase in sales for the eighth year running.

Berlin:  The 18 clubs which make up Germany's Bundesliga have recorded a turnover of two billion euros for the first time in the league's 50-year history, the German Football League (DFL) announced Wednesday.

Germany's top tier clubs announced a turnover of 2.08 billion euros for the 2011/12 season , up 7.4 percent, an increase in sales for the eighth year running.

The clubs have a post-tax profit of 55 million euros while debts rose from 594m to 623.8m (US$831m).
