'Rahul Dravid' of Railways, Yere Goud, announces retirement
Veteran Railway batsman Yere Goud, who was known for his dogged approach, has announced his retirement from first-class cricket after representing Railways and Karnataka for 17 years.

Veteran Railway batsman Yere Goud, who was known for his dogged approach, has announced his retirement from first-class cricket after representing Railways and Karnataka for 17 years.
Goud scored 7650 runs at 45.53 in 134 first-class matches and was a member of two Ranji Trophy winning Railways side as well as won three Irani Cups. He has played for India A also.
The high point of his career was 2001-02 season when he topped the run-scorers list in Ranji Trophy with 761 runs.
The 40-year-old had one of most compact defence among the domestic batsmen and had the ability to bat for hours even if he didn't get the scoreboard moving during that particular phase.
On the low and slow Karnail Singh pitch, he was one of those grafters whose batting was never pleasing to the eye yet very effective.
"I have no regrets about not playing for India. I gave it my best shot but it didn't happen," Goud said at his farewell ceremony arranged by the KSCA at the Chinnaswamy Stadium.
KSCA secretary Javagal Srinath termed called him "Rahul Dravid of Railways."
Goud now plans to become a qualified umpire as well as coach youngsters.
