Sri Lankan all-rounder Angelo Mathews has been ruled out of World Cup final against India to be played on April 2 in Mumbai.
ICC's Event Technical Committee has approved Suraj Randiv as his replacement player. The 26-year-old right-arm off-spinner from Matara has played in 21 ODIs for Sri Lanka claiming 22 wickets at an average of 33.5. He has also represented Sri Lanka in three Test matches and six Twenty20 Internationals.
During Lanka's semi-final match against New Zealand, Mathews had left the field after he suffered a strain to his right thigh muscle while fielding, and was visibly hampered for movement when he later came out to bat with a runner.
Muttiah Muralitharan has also struggled with niggles through the course of the tournament, including a hamstring injury, a side strain, a troublesome knee and a groin issue.
Sri Lanka have also called veteran seamer Chaminda Vaas as cover for the veteran spinner.
