Seth Rollins’ WWE Absence Gets A New Update On His Possible TV Return
Seth Rollins could be ready to return soon after dealing with a “minor injury,” according to Dave Meltzer. WWE has reportedly chosen to wait for the right TV opportunity, while Rollins remains active at live events during his absence.

Seth Rollins might be ready to wrestle again soon. The former World Heavyweight Champion has been dealing with a "minor injury." Meltzer said Rollins "could be back if needed now or soon," but WWE is not in a rush with the television comeback. The company reportedly wants to hold him until it finds the right spot for his return and can take "maximum impact" from it. Rollins stayed active at live events during this break, including WWE's September South American tour. He is also advertised for a dark match after SmackDown in Lafayette, Louisiana, so that is one more clue on his current availability.
Seth Rollins has remained active despite his WWE television absence
Rollins has not wrestled on WWE television since his loss to Roman Reigns at SummerSlam on August 2. But his calendar wasn't empty, not at all. The former champion kept working live events, including WWE's South American run in September.
His advertised match after SmackDown is a six-man tag involving LA Knight and Solo Sikoa against Royce Keys, Bronco Nima and Lucien Price of 946. That bout is listed as a dark match, so it is not expected to air on television. Also, WWE's advertised lineups can change, and sometimes it happens very last minute.
Rollins himself talked about the situation in a September interview with ESPN Chicago. He said he was "focusing on other things" and would come back when the timing was right. Waiting is the hardest part of any comeback.
So now this comment lines up with Meltzer's report that Rollins is close to being available. His injury was described only as minor, and there is no sign of a longer-term issue.
WWE previously considered a different return plan for Rollins
WWE had reportedly looked at bringing Rollins back during Saturday's Money in the Bank premium live event. Those plans got changed, and officials decided against using that show for his television comeback.
Because of this, the company now wants a more suitable opening for his return to WWE storylines. Meltzer's update suggests Rollins doesn't need a very long recovery period anymore, but WWE still keeps control over when he shows up on television.
If you really look at it, the Lafayette dark match can give him some in-ring work without putting him in a televised storyline right away. But the advertised bout alone doesn't confirm a TV return date.
As of now, WWE has not officially announced when Rollins will return to television. When that happens is up to WWE alone.
