Shaun Pollock to lead Mumbai Indians

Shaun Pollock has been appointed as the Mumbai Indians captain, after Harbhajan Singh was temporarily suspended on Saturday by the match referee.

New Delhi:

Shaun Pollock has been appointed as the Mumbai Indians captain for their match against Deccan Chargers today in the DLF IPL.

Shaun Pollock's appointment as Mumbai Indians captain came after Harbhajan Singh was temporarily suspended on Saturday by the match referee Farokh Engineer, as the off spinner allegedly slapped Kings XI pacer S Sreesanth on Friday night after his side lost their third match in a row.

Harbhajan Singh's temporary suspension from the IPL had thrown the Mumbai Indians' think-tank into a bit of a tizzy. They held a long meeting to take a decision on their new captain. Sachin Tendulkar, of course, is still injured, while Harbhajan faces a ban ranging from ten games to life, if found guilty of a level 4 offence.
