Dhoni offers prayers at Deori temple

Team India captain MS Dhoni on Sunday visited the Mahashakti temple at Deori, 80 kms away from Ranchi. Dhoni offered prayers to his deity and thanked the goddess for the World Cup win.
The Indian skipper has immense faith in this temple that he visits for blessings before every tour and tournament. Dhoni came without wife Sakshi for this trip.
Dhoni was accompanied by Jharkand sports minister Sudesh Mahto. Thousands of fans had gathered at the Deori temple to catch a glimpse of the cricket star. ÂÂ
Dhoni also planted three mango saplings in the temple premise to promote the cause for environment.
Earlier, Dhoni was made the brand ambassador of Jharkhand's forest and environment department.
The announcement by the state government in a full page advertisement in newspapers coincided with the World Environment Day on Sunday.
The advertisement carried Dhoni's photographs and his message to the people. "Our safety is in protecting the environment. Come forward to protect the natural beauty of Jharkhand," the message said.
The cricketer expressed his gratitude to the state government for making him the brand ambassador.
