Bowls it fullish outside off at 143.4 clicks, Amla comes back and accross initially and then strides forward to play an ambitious drive down the ground. The inward movement is sharp and Amla leaves a huge gap between his bat and pad. The ball whizzes between the gate and crashes into the stumps. A lot of energy into the celebration from Kumara and his skipper, Mathews is overwhelmed. Has been rewarded for bending his back and bowling his heart out.  66/2

23 OUT! STRANGLES DUMINY DOWN THE LEG SIDE! It has been an amazing over and he has brought Sri Lanka right back into the contest after a lean phase. Sticks to a short delivery and attacks the rib-cage of Duminy. He hops back, gets into an uncomfortable position and tries to fend it off. Ends up gloving it and Kusal Mendis moves to his right and leaps athletically into the air to grab a stunner. Absolute ripper! The 19-year old youngster is turning it around. Duminy's weakness against the short delivery has been spotted again and he has to make the long walk back.  66/3

Tossed up outside off, Faf leans to drive but the ball spins away a touch, takes the outside edge and Angelo Mathews takes a simple catch. Looks like everyone is going through the motions out there. No one makes any reaction, then Faf hits the air with his bat and then Mathews starts to smile. End of a stubborn stand. The dropped catch does not count then.  142/4

60.5 OUT! Taken in the deep! Kumara has his third! Excellent bowling. He tests Bavuma with the short ball and the batsman is not too comfortable with it. The ball is not that fast, just at 131.1 kph, but he is still hurried into the pull. He miscues it and the ball goes straight to deep backward square leg where Upul Tharanga takes it calmly and does not drop it this time. So Bavuma's failures continue. Has not quite been able to do much since his fifties in Perth and Hobart. Struggled even in domestic cricket, managing a highest of just 33 in 9 innings before this.  169/5

100.4 OUT! DE KOCK HAS TO WALK BACK! A little loss in concentration for de Kock but you can't take anything away from the delivery. Comes around the wicket, pitches it on a length outside off, de Kock looks to defend with the angle but the ball straightens a bit and catches the outside edge and goes behind. Chandimal does really well to get low ahead and take the catch. The umpire have a discussion on whether the catch is clean and in the end they find it clean and don't feel a need of going upstairs. Flatter delivery outside off, Abbott camps back to defend with the angle but the ball turns away slightly, enough to catch the outside edge of Abbott's bat and straight in the gloves of Chandimal behind the stumps. Full outside off, Philander looks to drive it on the up away from his body but the ball shapes away a touch after pitching and catches the outside edge and goes straight into the gloves of Chandimal. Dar raises his finger straightaway and Philander has to depart. Brilliant piece of bowling and also brilliant captaincy by Mathews to bring Kumara back on.  376/9

Rabada looks to play from within the crease but the inward movement surprises him and catches the inside edge of his bat and goes to Chandimal, who doesn't make any mistake. Bowls a short of a length delivery on off, Silva hops back, gets into a bit of an awkward position and looks to defend it but gets an inside edge rather. 23.3 OUT! Caught! Mendis loses his focus and pays the price. Full and outside off, Mendis looks to play the slog sweep but he is early into the same. Gets a top edge which goes straight up in the air. JP Duminy comes in from short extra cover and takes it near the bowler. Maharaj roars in anger. Poor choice of a shot with Tea around the corner. 32 OUT! LBW! Maharaj has his second. Flighted around off, de Silva comes down the track and looks to flick but misses and is hit on the pads. He is hit very low, so in spite of jumping out of the crease, the height is not a factor. Only the impact is the question and Hawk Eye shows that to be UMPIRE'S CALL, so the decision stays. The ball flies thick and fast to Dean Elgar at third slip who gets down to catch it over his head but the ball bursts through his palms. Luckily for him, the ball does not go too far and lobs in the it towards first slip where Hashim Amla takes it calmly. 150 TEST WICKETS FOR PHILANDER! Still a long time left in the day. 42.5 OUT! WHAT WAS KUMARA DOING THERE? Philander gets his third. Kumara was guilty of leaving a fullish ball attacking the stumps and he pays the price for it. He had absolutely no clue about that and looks back to see his leg stump shattered. Watching Philander bowl has been a joy to watch today. They still have 83 to avoid the follow-on which seems on the cards. Will South Africa have a crack at the visitors again?  110/9

Herath strikes in his first over of the innings. The lead is now 392 runs!  110/3

20 OUT! Double blow from Lakmal. Double wicket maiden and this is what Sri Lanka wanted. Excellent line, just around off and it has just enough movement away on it. 37.5 OUT! LAKMAL WITH HIS THIRD STRIKE! Duminy wanted to take the review but time ran out. And in a way, it's good that it did, he was dead plumb. Lakmal comes from over the wicket and fires in a full ball on middle and leg, Duminy is struck low on the pads as he attempts to flick it across the line. Loud, roaring appeals for a leg before go up and the umpire raises his finger. JP unable to take the review has to make the long walk back. 44 OUT! LAKMAL WITH HIS 4TH! A touch fuller outside off, du Plessis looks to push at it but the ball shapes away, catches the outside edge of the bat and goes behind towards Chandimal. 38.4 OUT! HE'S GONE! The dive didn't save him as his bat was in the air. Tossed up on the stumps, Bavuma eases this to mid off and sets off for the run, taking the fielder there on. Unnecessary really, no need to do that at this point. Dhananjaya de Silva is the fielder and he gets a direct hit at the bowler's end. Replays show Temba's bat to be in the air when the bails are off and so, he is going to have to walk back now. Another failure for him.  137/5

46.4 OUT! DE KOCK'S GONE! Back of a length delivery, de Kock looks to punch it through covers on the up but doesn't time it well and ends up outside edging it. The ball goes behind towards Chandimal, who gobbles another simple catch. De Kock is frustrated with himself and kicks the turf. Kumara on the other hand is pumped up and shouts 'yes' very loudly. 6 OUT! HE'S GOT 'EM! Set himself nicely by changing the angle and varying the lengths too. Teed him up with a couple of short ones, then went full. Almost got him on the previous delivery as well. Have to admire the strategy. Philander fires in a fuller inswinging delivery and bowls it around off, Dimuth Karunaratne goes for the expansive drive but gets an inside edge which shatters the leg stump and sends it flying out of its roots. An early breakthrough for Philander and South Africa will be loving this.  11/1

Back of a length delivery, angling into the body, Kaushal Silva looks to tuck it with the angle down the leg side but the ball rises onto him and balloons off the gloves in the air. Rabada and co. appeal and umpire Tucker raises his finger in agreement. De Silva goes towards his skipper to discuss whether or not to take the review and his skipper says not to take it. In the end, it proves to be a poor decision as the Hawk Eye shows that the ball was going down leg and missing leg stump completely. Dhananjaya's decent knock comes to an end.  69/4
