First Test India vs England, Day 2: Statistical highlights
Day 2 belonged to Cheteshwar Pujara, yet again. He scored his first double ton in Tests. Graeme Swann finished with a five-for while R Ashwin scored some crucial runs and then took a couple of wickets.

Second day's highlights:
# Yuvraj Singh and Cheteshwar Pujara were associated in a fifth-wicket partnership of 130 - India's highest against England at Motera. The said partnership is India's third highest for the fifth wicket at Motera - the highest is 182 between Rahul Dravid and Sourav Ganguly against New Zealand in October 2003.
# India's highest fifth wicket partnership against England is 214 between Ravi Shastri and Mohammad Azharuddin at Eden Gardens, Kolkata in 1984-85.
# Jonathan Trott has recorded his second duck in Tests - his first against India.
# India (521/8d) have recorded their second highest total at Motera - their highest is 583 for seven wickets declared against New Zealand in October/November 1999.
# The above score is the third highest at Motera. Sri Lanka had scored 760 for seven wickets declared in November 2009.
# Ravichandran Ashwin, in only nine Tests, has completed his 50 wickets - the fastest for India in Tests, bettering Anil Kumble's feat of recording the milestone in ten Tests.
# Cheteshwar Pujara (206 not out off 389 balls) has recorded his first double hundred in Test Cricket, eclipsing the 159 against New Zealand at Hyderabad this year.
# Pujara has become the sixth Indian batsman to post a
double hundred against England in Tests. He has joined Mansur Ali Khan, Pataudi, Sunil Gavaskar, Gundappa Viswanath, Vinod Kambli and Rahul Dravid.
# Pujara became the fourth Indian batsman to record a double century against England in India. Gavaskar and Dravid have recorded double hundreds at The Oval.
# Pujara has become the third Indian player to post a double hundred at Motera, joining Rahul Dravid (222 against New Zealand in 2003-04) and Sachin Tendulkar (217 against New Zealand in 1999-2000).
# Mahela Jayawardene (Sri Lanka) - 275 in November 2009 and Abraham de Villiers (South Africa) 217 not out in April 2008 are the only two batsmen to have recorded double hundreds against India at this venue.
# Yuvraj Singh (74) has posted his fourth fifty against England - his eleventh in Tests.
# In the course of his aforesaid innings, Yuvraj has completed his 1000 runs in Tests on Indian soil, totalling 1001 at an average of 43.52, including a hundred and seven fifties, in 17 Tests.
# Pujara and Ashwin were associated in a seventh-wicket partnership of 66 - India's highest against England at Motera.
# Graeme Swann's excellent figures of 5 for 144 are his second best against India, next only to the six for 106 in the 2011 Oval Test. His 14th five-wicket haul in Tests is his second against India.
# Swann has claimed five wickets or more in an innings ten times overseas. In eleven games this year, he has captured 44 wickets at an average of 32.15, including three instances of five wickets or more in an innings and one instance of ten wickets in a match. His tally is the highest by any bowler in 2012.
# Swan has joined Sydney Barnes (15) and Ian Botham (10). They are the only three bowlers to have recorded ten instances of five wickets or more in an innings for England overseas. He became the first English spinner to achieve the feat away from home.
# Swann has bowled fifty or more overs in an innings for the third time - once each against West Indies, South Africa and India. Against South Africa at The Oval this year, his bowling figures were 52-10-151-0 - the most overs conceded by him in a Test innings.
# Swann has equalled John Emburey's tally in the 1992-93 Mumbai Test (59-14-144-2). Both share an unwanted record of conceding most runs in a Test innings for England in India.
