Seat Of Ethnic Unrest In Assam Hosts Asia's Oldest Football Tournament

The Northeast, which has been in news for insurgency and ethnic unrest, is among the venues for the prestigious Durand Cup, Asia's oldest club football tournament. Now, there's sustained peace in Assam's Kokrajhar after a 2020 peace accord. Where the Army once used to carry out massive operations against the ethnic Bodo insurgents, today they have turned it into a venue for the Durand Cup. Even a club from Bodoland is participating in the tournament this time.
