Sao Paulo, Brazil:Palmeiras lost 3-0 at home on Wednesday night to Goias, which beat the Sao Paulo club on the road for the first time ever in the Brazilian League. Goias scored three goals within the hour mark and Palmeiras lost any chance of staging a recovery when they were reduced to 10 men a short time later. Good beginning The visitors began the contest well and were rewarded with an early goal on nine minutes when Jadilson's superb cross from the left side found Leandro all alone at the back post. Goias captain Paulo Baier demonstrated his individual brilliance when he sprinted into the heart of the defence before executing a powerful finish to make it 2-0 just moments from the half-time whistle. Goias went ahead 3-0 in the 59th minute when Leandro's clever lob found the tall striker Somalia for an easy score. With the result, Goias moved above Palmeiras and Sao Paulo with 36 points and into second place in the standings. It was the first time Palmeiras - who moved up from the second tier competition last season - have conceded three goals in the 2004 competition.
