Legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar was conferred with the Bharat Ratna - India's highest civilian award, at the Rashtrapati Bhawan on Tuesday (February 4, 2014).
Sachin Tendulkar was greeted by President Pranab Mukherjee.
The veteran of 200 Tests and 463 ODIs was honoured for his contribution to Indian cricket.
"This is the greatest honour of my life. I am so proud to have been born in India and I will continue to bat for the country," he told reporters later.
Dressed in a black bandhgala, Tendulkar was applauded in a small but grand ceremony.
Wife Anjali and daughter Sara were also present.
The other recipient of the award was Professor CNR Rao. Sachin congratulated him and said the scientist was an inspiration for the youth in the country.
