Stuart Clark grew on India stories

Sydney:

Australian bowler Stuart's father Bruce, an Englishman was born and raised in pre-Independence India and met his wife Mary in Chennai. The couple returned to Australia in the early 70's but still have fond memories of India.

"All the places we used to hang around the place we lived in Madras where we worked in Madras. I want to show my son the Indians are very nice people. I don't know why we left India," said Bruce and Mary Clark, Parents of Stuart Clark.

"I will sit on the pavement with the dhoti on sandals and smoke a beedi," said Bruce Clark, Stuart Clark's father.

So dear is India to the Clarks that Stuart grew up on stories of India.

"They always talked about it the food, the people and the places. If I'd never played cricket. I'd still have gone back to India just to see what it was all about," said Stuart Clark.

And just in case you still have any doubts about their India connection they speak a smattering of Hindi.

When Australia tour India later this year for the three-Test series, Clark is hoping to bring his parents with him.

"Hopefully the test series in India, it would be good for them to go back and have a look. it's been nearly 50 years since they've gone back. So it's got to change. We still have friends and relatives there and tell them all the stuff. It's got to be really good for them," Clark added.
