Rahul Dravid's son Samit has scored a century in age group cricket. Dravid Junior, who will turn 11 in October this year, smashed 125 runs in an under-14 tournament in Bangalore on Wednesday.
Samit was playing for Bangalore United Cricket Club against Frank Anthony Public School in a Tiger Cup match. The tournament attempts to spread awareness on tigers among school-going children.
Dravid Jr featured in a 213-run stand with Pratyush G, who was unbeaten on 143. BUCC scored a 246-run win after Frank Anthony were all out for 80.
Sons of legends like Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar have always drawn media attention. While Arjun Tendulkar has had his share of media spotlight, Samit has made headlines a few times.
Samit was named Best Batsman in the Under-12 Gopalan Cricket Challenge in September 2015. He had scored three fifties and that included a 93.
Interestingly, Samit's father, who is reckoned as the perfect mentor for upcoming cricketers, hasn't spent much time with his own son. Rahul Dravid is currently busy mentoring a Delhi Daredevils team that is yet to hit the straps in IPL 2016.
Rahul Dravid has been India A coach and the head coach of the national side in the Under-19 World Cup earlier this year.
Dravid's name did the rounds recently when BCCI started its hunt for a full-time coach after Ravi Shastri's contract as Team India director expired at the end of the ICC World T20.
