Bangalore: Mithali Raj will lead a 14-member Indian team at the Women's World Twenty20 that will run concurrently with the men’s event in Sri Lankain September-October. The women's event will run from September 26 to October 7.
Harmanpreet Kaur remains the vice-captain of the team, which also consists of seasoned campaigners such as Jhulan Goswami, Gouher Sultana and Sulakshana Naik.
India have made the semifinals of both World T20 competitions held so far – in 2009 and 2010. They are in Group A alongside Australia, England and Pakistan, and will start their campaign against Australia on September 27. All group stage matches will be played in Galle.
India will also play a warm-up match against New Zealand on September 23 before the World Cup at the Nondescripts Cricket Club in Colombo.
