That is it from the ODI series. We will be back with the T20I series which begins on 19th February. Join us at 2130 IST for all the action. Until then, goodbye and cheers!
AB DE VILLIERS is the MAN OF THE MATCH! (On his performance) Says that he has been a little bit off his game but it is nice to finish like that and lead from the front. Further says that it was a great team performance throughout the series. Adds by saying that he didn't think that his team was that far off in the first two matches. Also says that they enjoyed their performance at the Bullring and they showed a lot of character throughout and it was a great team effort. Ends by saying that he credits the Englishmen for giving them a tough fight as all the last three ODIs could have gone either way.
ALEX HALES was awarded the MAN OF THE SERIES for his 383 runs in the series. Says that he has mixed emotions as it has been a close series throughout. Further says that (on his role) one of the key things in one day cricket is to be adaptable. Ends by saying that they are a very exciting side and are still learning and that they lost to a very tough South African side.
EOIN MORGAN says that he doesn't think they did enough, adds that they were outplayed today. Further says that the opportunities came and that they could execute them if they would have been more experienced. Also says that they knew anywhere within 250-260 would have kept them in the game but it was difficult to beat AB. Ends by saying that it was disappointing to lose the series, but was proud of some individual performances.
So, contrary to their chokers' tag, the Proteas came down form being 0-2 to win the series 3-2, only the fourth time this feat has been achieved. So a very commendable effort by the South Africans, led by thier ever dependable superman skipper, AB de Villiers. Stay tuned for the presentations!
For England, Stuart Broad was economical with the ball, but had no wickets to show against his name. Reece Topley picked up three quick wickets on top, but nothing thereafter. There's nothing great to write about the bowling, as the South African batsmen always looked under control except for the time at the beginning.
The Proteas have done exceptionally well to win the 5-match series after being 2-0 down. The credit goes to AB de Villiers for his superb knock, an unbeaten hundred to win the series for his team. He came in to bat when the Saffas were in trouble. Just when the English thought that they were on top, the experienced duo of Amla and de Villiers spoilt their party. Amla brought up his 29th ODI fifty while the skipper got his 24th ODI ton. David Wiese towards the end of the innings played a sensible and useful knock along with his three wickets early on in the innings.
