Starting his first-class career at the age of 16, Rajesh Pawar, the leg spinner led the Mumbai U-19 side and was a part of India Under-19 at the 1998 Junior World Cup. However, he struggled to maintain his place in the Mumbai Ranji team mainly due to his poor performance of 30 wickets in three seasons. With the help of seamer Zaheer Khan, he shifted to Baroda in 2003 -04.
Pawar was a part of the Mumbai Indians in the IPL. He was then signed by the Delhi Daredevils in 2011.
