This is short and outside off, Mendis cuts it from his backfoot toward point. Will Jacks is the player in that region who moves to his right and makes a one-handed stop. He sees Mendis set off early to take the single and throws it at the keeper's end. Silva, on the other side of the pitch, sees Jacks stopping the ball and he rejects the call but Mendis is halfway through. He returns and offers a dive, but Buttler gloves the ball and whips the bails in a flash. The third umpire has a check on that Run Out and sees that Mendis's bat is much away from the popping crease. 68/3

Fails to get underneath and the bat of DDS also tilts in his hands as he looks to get under the ball. Ends up flicking this in front of Root at short mid-wicket. Joe Root dives in front and holds onto a good catch. Dhananjaya de Silva has to walk back on 40(59). 134/4

Asalanka gets down on one knee and looks to sweep it upishly, over the deep mid-wicket fence, but fails to get the desired elevation on that shot. The ball flies flat in deep mid-wicket and Ben Duckett doesn't really have to move much to reverse scoop the catch safely into his hands. 179/6

35.3 OUT! TAKEN! Jamie Overton gets his second wicket. This is on a good length, on middle and leg, Janith hangs back, lifts his front leg up and looks to flick it, but ends up flicking it aerially. The ball flies toward the deep backward square leg, where Adil Rashid moves a bit to his right and as he sees the ball dipping low in front of him, he leans forward and pouches the catch. Pramod Madushan shimmies down the track and flicks it away, but the ball turns away from the willow and Jos Buttler behind the stumps gloves the ball to whip the bails off. Pramod has no time to get back to his crease after comitting on the delivery. 213/8

40.3 OUT! LBW! Yorker, bang in the middle of the stumps, Joe Root goes for the flick but gets late in bringing his bat down. The ball sneaks under the bat of Root and hits him on his pads. A loud appeal and the umpire raises his finger. Joe Root sends this upstairs as he thinks this might be going down the leg. Nothing on the UltraEdge as the ball passes the bat and the Ball Tracker shows two reds and an orange with the umpire's call on ball clipping the side of the leg stumps. Jacob Bethell takes a half-step towards the pitch of the ball and still goes through with the drive. Gets it chipped high off his bat, low down to Charith Asalanka's right. Charith Asalanka dives in front and takes a splendid catch to send JB back. 97/3

42.4 OUT! LBW! That's trapped plumb in front of the stumps. Flighted around middle and off, Harry Brook goes down on a knee and looks to play the conventional sweep on this. Misses out on any sort of connection with the ball and gets rapped on the front pad. A loud appeal and the umpire raises his finger.
