14.1 OUT! IN THE AIR... TAKEN! Adil Rashid strikes back and Sri Lanka loses their second opener. This is fuller just outside off with some flight to offer. Nissanka looks to play inside out but ends up chipping it toward the sweeper cover region, where Will Jacks gets under the skier and pouches the catch safely into his hand. Pathum Nissanka has to depart, scoring 26 off 27. 58/2

4.3 OUT! CAUGHT! Full and wide outside the off-stump. Kamil Mishara leans low and chases this. Goes after it with a lofted drive. Doesn't get right underneath it and ends up chipping this at a catchable height to Ben Duckett at covers. Ben Duckett times his jump well and doesn't take this at the first go but juggles and grabs hold of it as he falls on the ground. Kamil Mishara departs after 5(12). 16/1

| Kusal Mendis Wk | 26 | 45 | 2 | 0 | 57.77 |
|
17.1 OUT! MENDIS IS RUN OUT! The mix-up between the batters leads to the wicket and the Lankans have lost their in-form batter. This is short and outside off, Mendis cuts it from his backfoot toward point. Will Jacks is the player in that region who moves to his right and makes a one-handed stop. He sees Mendis set off early to take the single and throws it at the keeper's end. Silva, on the other side of the pitch, sees Jacks stopping the ball and he rejects the call but Mendis is halfway through. He returns and offers a dive, but Buttler gloves the ball and whips the bails in a flash. The third umpire has a check on that Run Out and sees that Mendis's bat is much away from the popping crease. 68/3

32.4 OUT! CAUGHT! A massive wicket for England and DDS gives in. Tossed up, on middle and leg, Dhananjaya de Silva clears his front foot and looks to slog this away. Fails to get underneath and the bat of DDS also tilts in his hands as he looks to get under the ball. Ends up flicking this in front of Root at short mid-wicket. Joe Root dives in front and holds onto a good catch. Dhananjaya de Silva has to walk back on 40(59). 134/4

| Charith Asalanka C | 45 | 64 | 1 | 0 | 70.31 |
|
41.4 OUT! TAKEN! This is a big, big wicket for England to pick the wicket of the opposition skipper. This is fuller, around the fifth stump. Asalanka gets down on one knee and looks to sweep it upishly, over the deep mid-wicket fence, but fails to get the desired elevation on that shot. The ball flies flat in deep mid-wicket and Ben Duckett doesn't really have to move much to reverse scoop the catch safely into his hands. 179/6

| Janith Liyanage | 12 | 11 | 2 | 0 | 109.09 |

35.3 OUT! TAKEN! Jamie Overton gets his second wicket. This is on a good length, on middle and leg, Janith hangs back, lifts his front leg up and looks to flick it, but ends up flicking it aerially. The ball flies toward the deep backward square leg, where Adil Rashid moves a bit to his right and as he sees the ball dipping low in front of him, he leans forward and pouches the catch. Sri Lanka are 151 for 5 now. 151/5

| Pavan Rathnayake | 29 | 34 | 3 | 0 | 85.29 |
|
45 OUT! CAUGHT! Another important wicket for England, just when the Lankan batters were taking on the bowlers. This is fuller, just outside off. Pavan once again dances down the track to loft it downtown, but miscues it pretty badly. The ball connects the toe end of the bat and hit the outer part of his bat. The ball loops toward the deep extra cover, where Liam Dawson takes the catch. 193/7

| Dunith Wellalage | 20 | 19 | 2 | 0 | 105.26 |
|
49.2 OUT! TAKEN! Dunith Wellalage looks to just take on the bowler as it's the last over of the inning, but fails to get the better of it. This is tossed up by Root, fuller, on off. Dunith charges down the track and hits it from the bottom part of his bat. The ball flies toward the right of the long on region, Sam Curran jogs to his right and takes a good catch. 219/9

| Pramod Madushan | 7 | 11 | 0 | 0 | 63.63 |
|
48.2 OUT! STUMPED! Rehan Ahmed gets his name written on the wicket list. This is a short of a length, spinning it away from the right-hander. Pramod Madushan shimmies down the track and flicks it away, but the ball turns away from the willow and Jos Buttler behind the stumps gloves the ball to whip the bails off. Pramod has no time to get back to his crease after comitting on the delivery. 213/8

5.4 OUT! BOWLED'EM! The introduction of the spin has worked wonderfully for the Lankans. This is short of a length, pitching it outside off, around the sixth stump, but turns in sharply. Ahmed rocks back and looks to punch it away, but the ball sneaks past the inside edge of the willow and crashes into the top of the off pole. England are 20 after the loss of the first wicket. 20/1

16.5 OUT! TIMBER! Jeffrey Vandersay gives it a lot more air, bowls it on off, spinning it back into the batter. Ben Duckett backs away and looks to cut this through cover point but misses and gets his stumps broken. Ben Duckett departs after another start. 88/2

| Joe Root | 75 | 90 | 5 | 0 | 83.33 |

40.3 OUT! LBW! Yorker, bang in the middle of the stumps, Joe Root goes for the flick but gets late in bringing his bat down. The ball sneaks under the bat of Root and hits him on his pads. A loud appeal and the umpire raises his finger. Joe Root sends this upstairs as he thinks this might be going down the leg. Nothing on the UltraEdge as the ball passes the bat and the Ball Tracker shows two reds and an orange with the umpire's call on ball clipping the side of the leg stumps. Joe Root has to take the long walk back on 75(90). 178/4

19.3 OUT! CAUGHT! Excellently taken from Charith Asalanka at short cover and Jacob Bethell has to take the long walk back. Top-spinner, tossed up, wide outside off. Jacob Bethell takes a half-step towards the pitch of the ball and still goes through with the drive. Gets it chipped high off his bat, low down to Charith Asalanka's right. Charith Asalanka dives in front and takes a splendid catch to send JB back. 97/3

| Harry Brook C | 42 | 75 | 2 | 0 | 56 |

42.4 OUT! LBW! That's trapped plumb in front of the stumps. Flighted around middle and off, Harry Brook goes down on a knee and looks to play the conventional sweep on this. Misses out on any sort of connection with the ball and gets rapped on the front pad. A loud appeal and the umpire raises his finger. Harry Brook decides to walk back without even sending this uptairs as he knows that he was dead in front. 189/5
