If only he had hit it 10 meters left or right to Rashid at fine leg, it would have gone for a boundary but no. Rashid only has to take a few steps across to his left to pouch an easy catch. Pujara is shell-shocked, so is Ravi Shastri in the dressing room, and Kohli looks bamboozled as well. On the other hand, Woakes can't believe his luck as he celebrates with a huge smile on his face. Kohli could not stop himself as he tries to caress it through covers. The ball turns and also bounces a touch more. Takes the outside edge and settles into the hands of Stokes. End of a masterful knock by the run machine. He becomes only the third Indian batsmen to get out in the 90s at Trent Bridge. 67 OUT! Spider-Man or Alastair Cook? Well, it's difficult to differentiate right now considering the way ball stuck to his hand. Reaction time - 0.493 seconds. What a catch! Rahane lunges forward to play the length ball outside his off stump but the ball gets the outside edge and goes past Bairstow in a hurry. Cook, at first slip, sees it late perhaps or he wanted his keeper to go for it. However, he still puts his left hand out and the ball just sticks like mine on fries. 87 OUT! A wicket right at the fag end. This is Anderson's 100th Test wicket against India. What a champion bowler. Pandya had to see off just that one more ball - but fails to do so. Jimmy continues to probe away in the corridor of uncertainty but this was a ball which perhaps Hardik could have left. But that compulsive 'have-to-put-bat-to-ball' mindset in him forces the all-rounder to come forward and have a tame push. There is some extra bounce on the ball and it also seams away a bit after hitting the deck. That movement allows the ball to take the outside edge. It flies to second slip, where Buttler takes his second catch of the innings. Pandya walks back like a man furious with the whole world. Throughout the over and also the one before, he was asking the umpires - 'How many balls left? How many balls left?' Pujara had no answers and now Ashwin too has none. Broad comes running in and bowls it full outside off, it comes back in very late. Ashwin has his front foot planted across but then seeing the ball tail back in, he tries to flick. He misses, the ball hits his pads and then uproots the middle pole. Broad gets his second this morning and England are now into the tail which they would want to clean up as quickly as possible.  326/8

94.4 OUT! And the aggressive tactics have not worked for Shami here. Anderson keeps it on a length on middle and off. Shaping away after landing. Shami, as he tried earlier in the over, goes for a wild swing. The ball moves away slightly on hitting the deck and he gets a top edge. 12.1 OUT! Gone! Two in Two. Bumrah is the man this time. India back in the hunt! He again pushed it across Jennings who threw his bat at it with his feet glued to the crease. The ball kicks off and speeds off the surface, taking the outside edge of the hanging bat of Jennings. Pant makes no mistake in taking the second catch of his Test career. The Indians are ecstatic. 24.1 OUT! This is what the big screen flashes and Root has been given his marching orders. The crowd is not happy and neither is Root as he shakes his head while walking off. The soft signal has surely played a big role in this being given out as it could have gone either way. India though won't mind as they have the talisman of the English batting line-up and that too cheaply. Hardik Pandya has delivered straightaway. He bowls it on a back of a length around off, it pitches and straightens. Root goes back and tries to push the ball inside the line but it takes the outside edge and goes low towards Rahul at second slip. He seems to have taken it and starts celebrating. Root waits there. The umpires have a chat and then take it upstairs. The soft signal is OUT. Time for the replays and after several looks, it is ruled in favour of the visiting side. Really a 50-50 call as from one angle it looked like the ball had bounced off his fingers while from the other angle, it appeared to have touched the ground first. Pope tried to work it fine but Sharma's ability to extract extra bounce off the pitch brought his downfall. The ball brushed his gloves and Pant took his third catch, this time by diving to his left. England are in a similar position as India, losing three after the opening pair put on a 50-run stand. This is a good passage of play for the visitors. Buttler tries to clear the cow corner region but gets a top edge towards long on. Shardul Thakur, the substitute there, runs in and takes a good catch. He says enough of the full ones and bangs in a short one. It is a well-directed one as well. It surprises Chris Woakes as he goes for the pull without keeping his eyes on the ball. It seems to have taken the glove and Rishabh Pant behind takes a jumping one-handed catch. The Indians appeal and the umpire raises his finger. Chris Woakes walks up to his partner and has a chat. He then goes for the review but the replays show there is an edge. Pandya now has a three-fer and the centurion of the last game walks back with a single digit score.  118/7

32.1 OUT! Maiden four-fer for Pandya in Tests! He is relishing the conditions out there. Wickets on consecutive balls for him. Lovely stuff again. He has really found his length and line today. Bowls it around off, just behind the fuller length. Once again it swings away. Rashid tries to defend inside the line. But the ball kisses the outside edge of the bat and settles into the mitts of Pant who is having a dream debut with the gloves. His fifth catch and the end now is nigh for England. 32.5 OUT! That is plumb! Fifer for Hardik Pandya. All the talks about why he is being selected have just been thrown out of the window. He has turned the game around in just 29 balls. Another delivery which is on the fuller side has done the trick for him. It swings back in late from around off, Broad from within his crease tries to flick but misses to get hit on the pads. The players appeal and the umpire raises the finger. Broad asks his partner about the review but Buttler asks him to keep walking. England need another 2 to avoid the follow-on, they have one wicket in hand.  128/9

He has outfoxed the Indian opener with a well-disguised wrong 'un. Dhawan runs down the track without reading the variation, is deceived in flight first and then tries to defend it. But to his bad luck, it's a googly, turning away from his blade. Bairstow does the stumping easily. Shikhar misses out on his maiden Test fifty in England. Anyway, a fine knock. 11.2 OUT! TIMBER! Stokes strikes. England needed this. He bowls it full on the off stump. Rahul goes for the drive, but does not move his feet much. The ball pitches on off and seams in ever so slightly to take the inside edge of Rahul's bat and then rattles the stumps. India lose their first on the same score they lost their first in the first innings. Nevertheless, the openers have again got them off to a solid start.  60/1

71.3 OUT! Finally England taste some success today. Stokes is the one to provide the breakthrough and break the 113-run stand. He delivers it on a length just outside off and gets it to nip back in with extra bounce. Pujara tries defending it without much footwork and gets a fat outside edge behind. Cook at first slip takes it easily. Pujara is disappointed, there was a century for the taking. Anyway, India are right on top, leading by 392 runs.  224/3

Kohli tries to flick but misses to get hit on the pads. The players appeal and the umpire raises the finger. Kohli walks up to his partner and then after a chat, goes for the review. 94.4 OUT! And Anderson's persistence on that line and length just outside off does the trick. The ball pitches on a length on off, moves away a bit. Pant tentatively hangs his bat out to defend it. Gets an outside edge and Alastair Cook at first slip takes it easily. Pant had the license to go bang bang, couldn't make it happen though. He'll feel a little disappointed. Similar kind of delivery that got Jennings earlier. He gets it to straighten from around the wicket. Cook could have left it alone but on the contrary, he pokes at it tentatively. An edge is induced and straight into the safe hands of Rahul at second slip. England's most experienced, highest run-getter and most prolific batsman is walking back. India on the charge.  32/2

9.5 OUT! Gone! Ishant Sharma draws first blood. What a cracker, this! He bowls this on a back of a length on off and gets it to move away just a tad. Jennings plays inside the line from his crease and ends up getting an outside edge. Rishabh Pant completes the formalities and now has the most dismissals for an Indian wicket-keeper on a Test debut. Sharma did err in line for a couple of deliveries but he got back to his normal length and reaped the rewards. Jennings couldn't have done much to this though. 24.3 OUT! This is a tremendous catch by KL Rahul. India have improved exceptionally well with their catching in this Test match, especially in the slip cordon. A needless push by Root though. He batted well so far, was very cautious while leaving deliveries outside his off stump. But this time he got sucked into one. Bumrah serves it on a back of a length outside off, holding its line, Root tries to punch it off his back foot but gets a fat outside edge behind to second slip. It's travelling and KL Rahul stationed there does nicely to stretch his hands out to his right to grab the catch. He straightaway runs in joy and does a 'Delle Alli challenge' celebration towards one of his teammates in the dressing room.  62/3

25.1 OUT! Virat Kohli flies like Superman and takes a ripper. Let me repeat, India's slip catching has improved by leaps and bounds in this match. If Rahul's catch was tremendous then this catch was a notch up. Shami sticks to his line outside off, maybe a little bit of away movement once it kisses the deck, Ollie Pope chances his luck with a drive this time. However, he keeps all his weight on the back foot, something which we have been pointing out throughout his innings. As a result, there isn't a proper transfer of weight into the drive and an outside edge is induced. It hurries towards the slip cordon where Kohli (from third slip) dives across to his left and pouches it in front of second slip. India are all pumped up, they need 6 more wickets to get off the mark in this Test series.  62/4

The second new ball has worked wonders for the Indians here. Hardik Pandya, the hero of the first innings, gets his first. Just like the last delivery, he makes excellent use of the angle and lands it around off, this one slants away. Stokes is squared up as he tries to defend, the ball takes the outside edge and goes towards second slip who makes no mistake. Who is the fielder there? You probably must have guessed it right - KL RAHUL. He takes his third catch of the innings. The Indians are pumped up and they now can surely sniff a victory today, 13.1 overs to go.  241/8

82.3 OUT! Buttler walks after a magnificent innings. He managed to keep the Indian bowlers at bay along with Stokes with a record-breaking 169-run partnership but he resistance finally ends. Coming to the ball - It was fullish around off, coming in with the angle and Buttler left it. That was his undoing. The ball kept on coming in and hit him on his knee roll. Bumrah started celebrating straightaway and the umpire raises his finger without any doubt in his mind. Buttler goes for a desperate review. The replays roll in. 82.4 OUT! Two in two. Are you kidding me? What a peach to bowl to a new batsman. This is unplayable. Bairstow has no chance of getting any bat to it. WOW! Bumrah is spitting fire here. He lands one on a length around off and gets it to straighten from there. Bairstow plays the line but the ball goes past the outside edge of his bat and rattles the off pole. What a jaffa! 84.4 OUT! Another one bites the dust. Bumrah is on fire. Unplayable, this. He digs in a short ball, targeting the grille of Woakes. Pandya mentioned in an interview that Woakes has a problem with the short ball and Bumrah kept that in his mind. He puts Woakes in a tangle who tries to evade it but does not get his bat out of the way. The ball kisses his gloves and Pant takes a jumping catch behind. England are 7 down now.  241/7

96.2 OUT! Gone, this time he is gone. Finally, the 5-fer Bumrah was waiting for, his second in this format. What a performance from the comeback man! He has demolished England's lower-order with the second new ball ever so easily. Coming to the delivery, it's a length ball in line of the stumps. The angle squares Broad up and the edge of his willow is found. Rahul takes the catch at second slip to complete the formalities.
