South Africa registered a comfortable 211-run victory over Pakistan in the first Test at Johannesburg to take lead in the three-match series.

AB de Villiers
With 11 dismissals in the match, de Villiers equals Jack Russell's world record of eleven catches for England against South Africa at Johannesburg in 1995-96.

De Villiers has become the first wicketkeeper to complete the double of a century and ten dismissals or more in the same Test match.

South Africa have won two Tests out of three played against Pakistan at The Wanderers Stadium. Their overall record is 14 wins and ten losses out of 34 played at this venue.(Drawn ten).

Smith has emulated Ricky Ponting's record of 48 wins. 48 wins, 26 losses and 26 drawn games out of 100 played as captain - winning % 48.00.

The 127-run stand between Misbah and Asad is Pakistan's highest for any wicket at Johannesburg. The said stand is a fifth wicket record for Pakistan against South Africa in Tests.

Steyn has recorded career-best match figures of 11 for 60 runs - the best by a bowler in Pakistan-South Africa Tests.

Steyn has become the first South African bowler to register five instances of ten wickets or more in a Test match, bettering the four by Makhaya Ntini.

He bagged five wickets or more in an innings 21 times, eclipsing Allan Donald's tally of 20.

His strike rate of 40.8 is a record amongst the bowlers with at least 200 wickets or more in Tests.

Steyn got his seventh Man of the Match award in Tests.

The 27-year-old holds a record for conceding fewest number of runs while claiming ten wickets in a Test match against Pakistan.
