Well, that is all we have from today's game. A damp squib in the end but we hope that tomorrow's semi-final between India and South Africa lives up to every bit of our expectations. Till then, it's cheers and goodbye from us!
Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bat on a belter of a track. The decision backfired early on as Windies got amongst the wickets but Thirimanne and Mathews ensured Sri Lanka put on a challenging total. West Indies got off to a flier thanks to Smith but Malinga pegged them back with a game-changing over knocking back both openers. Bravo teed off as soon as he got out to the middle but holed out just when he was looking to threaten for a big score before rain halted play.
The game was heading to an interesting climax. West Indies were on the back foot yes, but with Sammy and Samuels at the crease, things could have exploded right at the end. Unfortunately, there will be no fireworks from the West Indies this time. Sri Lanka advance into their third WT20 final.
What an unfortunate way to end a cricket match! West Indies will have to go back empty-handed this time around. They have been dealt a cruel blow by mother-nature here. The match has officially been called off and SRI LANKA ARE DECLARED WINNERS BY 27 RUNS ON D/L METHOD.
This is serious trouble. It isn't raining but 'Hailing' down as the Hails keep pelting down at the ground. We will get back to you with further updates as and when we get some.
Oh dear! Out of nowhere, the rain has suddenly started hammering down accompanied by huge gusts of wind. The players are rushing off the field for the moment. This isn't the way you want to end such an exciting contest.
