The celebrations are on at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata. West Indies are on their celebratory spree around the ground. The party will go on and on for the most entertaining team in the cricketing world. Historic day for West Indies cricket and they have every right to celebrate. That also brings us to the end of what has been a riveting 2016 World T20. Right from the first stage to the Super 10s and knockouts, it has been a tremendous tournament. Hope you all enjoyed our coverage of the showpiece event. We will be back with more cricketing action soon. Until then, it's goodbye from us.
DARREN SAMMY (WORLD T20 WINNING CAPTAIN) maintains that he never stopped believing. Thanks Almighty for all the success. States that Fletcher is a pastor who keeps praying for the team. States that the entire team has prayers. Lauds Brathwaite for the brilliant effort in the final over. Stresses for the umpteenth time that his team has 15 matchwinners and that they have proved it throughout the tournament. Says that everybody had written off his team and that they have proved everyone wrong. While comparing the win with their 2012 title win, Sammy feels that there is a more emotional connect to this victory. Says that all the off-field issues brought the team closer. Praises the coaching staff for the extreme support they have provided. Credits their manager for taking all the effort for helping the team with everything including the jerseys. Ends by thanking everybody for the support.
VIRAT KOHLI is PLAYER OF THE TOURNAMENT for scoring 273 runs at a staggering average of 136.50. Kohli isn't here and so CAB President Sourav Ganguly accepts it in the former's absence.
MARLON SAMUELS (MAN OF THE MATCH) feels that he always turns up in finals after having done the same in the 2012 World T20 final. States that he had missed out in the semifinals but maintains that he was confident of doing well in the finals. States that he has played cricket in England and also adds that he has respect for England players. Opines that he wanted to steady the innings after having lost early wickets. Ends by taking a dig at Shane Warne. Says that Warne always talks about him and says that this award is a statement to the Aussie great.
EOIN MORGAN congratulates West Indies for being the World T20 champions. Says that he was never sure even going into the final over of the match. Feels that this format is unpredictable and that the surface was good for batting although both teams misfired a bit. Feels that England should have got at least 180-190. Lauds Badree for his spell and admits that England didn't play him well. Points that the early loss of wickets halted England's momentum. States that he is extremely proud of his side for the performances throughout the tournament. Maintains that the transition of England in the shorter formats has been great and opines that it is just the start of something special. Feels that Ben Stokes is good and says that the entire team is equally responsible for the defeat.
What a day it's for West Indies cricket! Their women won their maiden World T20 title in the evening and the men have joined in the party by being the first team to be multiple World T20 champions. Not to forget that their Under-19 boys won the World Cup in February as well. What a year it has been so far for the men from the Caribbean! The presentation ceremony is coming up.
CLIVE LLOYD (WI CHIEF SELECTOR) says that he is a happy man. States that it is his 50th year in cricket and had told his boys to make it special. States that he believed Brathwaite could do it even when it was 19 needed off 6 balls. Compares Brathwaite to Russell in terms of sheer power. Says that he will look to learn the signature dance steps from the boys later on at night.
CURTLY AMBROSE (WI BOWLING COACH) says that his team believes that they can chase any target with the firepower they have. Feels that they have shown it many times in the tournament. Maintains that they believed they could get it even when it was 19 needed off the last over. States that they are enjoying it having made history (at being multiple World T20 champions)
CARLOS BRATHWAITE thanks God for the success. Credits Samuels for his knock and for taking responsibility. Says that his team has players who always stood up. Insists that they believed they could win after the women's team did it earlier in the day.
England's bowlers didn't do much wrong with Willey and Rashid being the pick of the bowlers. Jordan too bowled well as the West Indies batsmen were kept under check. Stokes, until the final over, had bowled decently too but then, it was the Caribbean strength that prevailed in the end. Earlier in the evening, England got to a competitive 155 thanks to contributions from Root and the lower order. It was certainly a competitive score but wasn't enough to halt the West Indies juggernaut. Player interviews are coming up as the West Indies boys celebrate wildly on the ground.
Carlos Brathwaite didn't think so though as he went completely berserk. He just slammed the first 4 balls of the final over into the stands for huge maximums to settle the issue. It's not the first time that he has finished a game under pressure though. In the game against South Africa, on a sticky track, the match was getting close but Brathwaite smoked a maximum in the final over to seal it for his team. However, in a Cup final, to clobber 4 sixes off the last over to win the game is truly exceptional stuff to say the least.
Samuels continued to keep West Indies in the chase with calculated risks as the required runs became 45 from 24 and then 27 from 12. Willey bowled an excellent spell conceding just 20 off his 4 overs with 3 wickets to his name. Jordan bowled a terrific penultimate over as he gave away just 8 in it. This meant that West Indies needed 19 to win off the last over. Irrespective of their firepower, in a Cup final like this, the odds seemed against West Indies.
What an insane win that is for the West Indies as they become the first team to win multiple World T20 titles. Chasing 156 to win, their top order was rattled early by some quality England bowling. However, like in the 2012 World T20 final, that man, Marlon Samuels rose to the challenge with a brilliant unbeaten 85. He along with Bravo repaired things with a 75-run stand but England were still very much in the game. The asking run rate kept climbing and Willey dealt a double blow by removing both Russell and Sammy in the same over.

SIX! FOUR IN A ROW! GAME OVER! So simple isn't it? Full and on leg stump, Brathwaite clears his front leg to heave it over deep mid-wicket for another maximum. What a way to finish the game! 19 was needed in the last over and Brathwaite goes 6,6,6 and again 6! Stokes is crestfallen and on his knees in total despair. He is shattered. WEST INDIES WIN BY 4 WICKETS TO BECOME WORLD T20 CHAMPIONS!
1 from 3 now. England taking their time but it might be too late now.

SIX! MAKE THAT 3 IN A ROW! TAKE A BOW BRATHWAITE! Fuller outside off, Brathwaite gets underneath that one and dropkicks this way high over long off for another maximum. Wasn't off the middle but still enough power to clear the ropes. Scores level with 3 serious blows into the stands.

David Willey To Carlos Brathwaite
Slower ball on leg stump, Brathwaite makes room to heave but is struck on the pads as it goes to short cover. Willey runs across to gather the ball but misses the target at the non-striker's end. Brathwaite would have been gone. They take a run meanwhile and it's off the bat. Perhaps an inside edge there.
