That is that from this one-sided contest. On Friday (28th January), Quetta Gladiators will face Peshawar Zalmi at 8 pm IST (2.30 pm GMT) in the second match of the season. Do join us in advance for the build-up. Until then, it's goodbye and cheers!
Mohammad Rizwan, the victorious captain of Multan Sultans, starts by crediting his bowlers for the way they bounced back after the Powerplay. Praises Imran Tahir for his exceptional bowling. Tells that it is important to assess the pitch early on and one needs to take some bold decisions after seeing the wicket. Adds that the target was low and their aim was to finish the game by the 17th over. Admits that Mohammad Nabi bowled really well and stretched the match a bit.
Babar Azam, the captain of Karachi Kings, says that they batted well in the first 6 overs but they failed to utilize the middle overs. Admits that they didn't have enough runs on the board. Tells that they lacked experience in the bowling attack. He is hopeful of bouncing back in the next game. Praises the batting of Mohammad Rizwan and hopes that he keeps up with his form.
IMRAN TAHIR IS THE MAN OF THE MATCH! The leggie says that it was nice to find the pitch on the slower side and he is happy to contribute. Adds that he tries to help other spinners in the group and share his knowledge.
Stay tuned for the presentation...
Tim David is caught for a quick chat. Says that it's a nice feeling to hit the winning runs. Tells that the boys are energetic and it's been really good. Praises Mohammad Rizwan for his knock and the way he backs his players. Mentions that it will be fantastic to play here in front of a full house.
An evening to quickly forget and move ahead for the Kings. Nothing went their way, right from the toss. They did start cautiously with the bat and Sharjeel Khan appeared to be in form. But, as soon as he fell, Babar Azam also followed him after a scratchy knock and their innings never got going. After finishing with just 124 on the board, they needed early wickets but Multan Sultans didn't allow them that opening and cruised past the target without breaking a sweat. Mohammad Rizwan stayed there till the end and finished with an unbeaten 52. To sum up Karachi Kings' performance in two words - Rusty and flavourless.
A neat and clean performance from the defending champions and they have started their campaign with a thumping win. It was a game nicely set up by the bowlers of Multan Sultans, ably led by the old warhorse Imran Tahir. They restricted a rusty batting line-up of Karachi Kings to a mediocre total and then scaled it down with minimum fuss.
