A game to forget for Peshawar Zalmi. They were put under the pump right from the first over by Islamabad United. They were simply outmuscled by Stirling and Hales in the Powerplay and could never recover from that. Nothing worked for them on this flat pitch. But to be honest, they lost the game with the bat. Being 35 for 4 cost them a lot and despite a blinder from Sherfane Rutherford, they had a below-par score on this surface.
Chasing 169 could have been tricky if Islamabad United had lost a couple of early wickets. But that was not to be. Paul Stirling and Alex Hales took the game away from Peshawar Zalmi. They were off to a flier and 78 runs were scored in the Powerplay. The pair was separated in the 10th over but the job was almost done by them. Rahmanullah Gurbaz joined Alex Hales in the middle to put the finish touches to the game. Both the openers scored a fifty each and made sure that Peshawar Zalmi had no chance of getting back on top.
