# Australia (408) have posted their second highest total at Mohali, next only to the 428 in October 2010.

# Steven Smith (92) has registered a career-best in Tests, eclipsing the 77 against Pakistan at Leeds in July 2010.

# Smith and Starc were involved in a stand of 97 - Australia's highest for the eighth wicket against India in India, bettering the 73 (twice) between Shane Watson and Brett Lee at Mohali in October 2008 and between Tom Veivers and Graham McKenzie at Chennai in October 1964.  Australia's highest stand for this wicket-position against India is 117 between Jason Gillespie and Simon Katich at Sydney in January 2004.

# The 97-run stand is the third highest for Australia for the eighth wicket against India - their eighth highest in an overseas Test - the highest being 137 between Richie Benaud and Ian Johnson against the West Indies at Kingston in June 1955.

# Only two batsmen have posted more than Starc against India at number nine - 173 by Ian Smith (New Zealand) at Auckland in 1989-90 and 102 not out by Lance Klusener (South Africa) at Cape town in 1996-97.
