Mohali Test, India vs Australia: Statistical highlights from Day 2

New Delhi:  Australia openers David Warner and Ed Cowan gave their side a solid start but India clawed back with a few wickets on Day 2 of the Mohali Test. A look at the statistical highlights.

# David Warner (71) has recorded his highest score against India in India, surpassing the 59 at Chennai in the first Test of the present series.

# Warner's second fifty against India is his seventh in Tests.  His career-best is 180 against India at Perth in January 2012.

# Ed Cowan (86) has registered his second highest score in Tests, next only to the 136 against South Africa at Brisbane in November 2012.

# Cowan's sixth fifty in Tests is his third against India.   

# The 139-run partnership is the first century stand for Australia in the present series, not involving their captain, Michael Clarke. Clarke and Henriques had shared 151-run partnership for the sixth wicket at Chennai and Clarke and Wade had recorded 145 for the fifth wicket at Hyderabad.

# David Warner and Ed Cowan's century partnership for the first wicket is Australia's first in seven innings against India - the last being the 214 by the same pair at Perth in January 2012.

# The 139-run stand is Australia's highest for the first wicket against India in India, surpassing the 136 between Matthew Hayden and Justin Langer at Chennai in October 2004.

# The aforesaid partnership is Australia's second highest for any wicket against India at Mohali, next only to the 141-run stand for the second wicket between Ricky Ponting and Shane Watson in October 2010.

# Micahel Clarke has recorded his first duck in 18 Tests in the subcontinent.

# Clarke's second duck against India is his seventh in Tests.  Both times against India, he registered first-ball ducks.

# Phillip Hughes is averaging 5.40 in the present series - 27 runs in five innings.

# Moises Henriques has registered his second successive duck in Tests - one each at Hyderabad and Mohali. After making a successful debut at Chennai, scoring 68 & 81 not out, he has recorded 5, 0 & 0.

# Dhoni is the first Indian wicketkeeper to complete 50 dismissals against Australia in Tests - 41 catches + nine stumpings in 16 games.

# Steven Smith's third fifty in Tests is his first against India.

# Of his eight dismissals as stumped, Clarke has recorded five against India.  He has been dismissed by Jadeja four times in the present series.
