Former cricketer Dean Jones told NDTV on Thursday that the Indian selection committee's decision to drop Virender Sehwag from the remaining two Tests against Australia would make the touring side very happy. Describing him as a 'nuclear warhead,' Jones said that the Mohali pitch may well have seen Sehwag explode.

While Sehwag has been out of form and scored just 27 from three innings from two Tests against Australia, Jones said Michael Clarke and Co. are aware of the openers' ability to find form without warning.

"There is no doubt that he is a nuclear warhead at the front. He can just smash the team to game cube in one session, the way he plays. And he is likely to do that in Mohali where the pitch would have suited him where the ball comes onto the bat. (But) it is not good to be dropped at 33-34," he said.

Admitting that Sehwag is his most favourite batsman to watch, the 51-year-old cricket expert said that the unpredictable nature of Sehwag's batting is what continues to make him lethal.

"He is probably my favourite player in the world to watch. You just don't know what he is going to do. But there are three-four other openers putting their hands up. Murali Vijay's 100 ( in the Hyderabad Test) has not helped him (Sehwag)."

Sehwag's best in the series against Australia has been 19 and while Jones said that "a 30 or 40-something would have helped him," also added that looking forward, Ajinkya Rahane would be the batsman most likely to replace Sehwag. "He is a class act. I love his defence. I love the way he lets the ball go and he needs to be given a couple of Tests.

With no replacement named for Sehwag, apart from Rahane, Shikhar Dhawan is the only other opener in fray. The third Test in Mohali starts March 14.
