Hilton Head Island:

Jim Furyk and Aaron Baddeley share a 3-stroke lead at 14-under after three rounds of the Verizon Heritage PGA golf tournament. Tour veteran Billy Mayfair is at 11-under par. Ernie Els and Jerry Kelly share fourth place, one stroke behind Mayfair at 10-under-par. Off the pace Furyk held a 2-stroke lead entering the third round of the Verizon Heritage at the par-71 Harbour Town Golf Links. South Africa's Ernie Els started the day seven shots off the pace, but finished just four behind Furyk and Aaron Baddeley after a 6-under-par 65. Baddeley, who was playing alongside Furyk, continued his impressive tournament with a 5-under-par 66. His round included a perfectly judged birdie putt at the 12th hole to go to 12-under. Furyk also birdied the 12th hole to join Baddeley at the top of the leaderboard. Superb birdie Billy Mayfair is well in contention after a round of 68, which included a superb birdie from the fringe of the 17th green. Mayfair is outright third at 11-under, three shots adrift of the leaders. After losing the lead to Baddeley on the front nine, Furyk rallied to keep the pressure on the 25-year-old Australian. Furyk birdied the 15th, then set up another great birdie chance with his approach shot to the 16th green. Baddeley also found the 16th green with his approach and seized the birdie opportunity to go to 14-under-par. Eyeing victory Furyk responded with a birdie of his own at 16 to join Baddeley at 14-under. At the 17th, Furyk had his third successive birdie to take the lead at 15-under. But the American bogeyed the 18th hole, leaving him tied with Baddeley heading into the final round. Baddeley is aiming for his first win on the US PGA Tour, while Furyk is hoping for his first victory since last year's Western Open. (AP)
