Colombo:  The much awaited election of the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) to be held tomorrow is all set to peter out as a no contest as the former president Tilanga Sumathipala's faction plans to withdraw from the contest.

Thus, the Dharmadasa team is now certain to be elected unopposed.

A spokesman for the Sumathipala team said that they would be withdrawing from contest tomorrow when the election takes place.

Sumathipala himself withdrew from contesting for the post of Chairman against Upali Dharmadasa.

SLC will be conducting its first election in seven years after the local administration came to be continuously run through a string of politically appointed interim committees.

Tomorrow's election was necessitated by the ICC ultimatum that all governing bodies must be democratically elected.
