Shanghai:
Mahesh Bhupathi and Mark Knowles put up a spirited fight but lost their second round robin match of the $4,45,000 Tennis Masters Cup to top seeds Mike and Bob Bryan on Tuesday.
The third seeded Indo-Bahamian pair went down 5-7 6-3 4-10 to their American opponents in the Red Group clash.
The fiercely contested first set saw Bryan brothers taking the lead as they converted a crucial breakpoint even as Bhupathi and Knowles missed theirs.
The Indo-Czech pair drew parity by winning the second set breaking their rivals twice and saving as many breakpoints on their serve.
However, in the super tie-breaker Bryan brothers prevailed to record their second successive win.
Top two teams of the Red and Gold group would make the semifinal stage of the high profile season ending event.
