Galle:Wet ground conditions have delayed the start of the second day's play in the third and final cricket Test between England and Sri Lanka here on Wednesday.
A heavy downpour on Tuesday evening drenched the outfield at the Galle International Stadium, although the well-covered wicket was not affected.
Just 55 of the stipulated 90 overs were bowled on the first day with Sri Lanka, sent in to bat, making 147-4 on the back of skipper Mahela Jayawardene's unbeaten 51.
Play is not expected to start before 11:00 am (0530 GMT) as overcast skies hampered the ground staff's efforts to dry the outfield.
England are seeking a series-levelling win after losing the first Test in Kandy. The second Test in Colombo was drawn last week.
