Former cricketer Sandeep Patil today gave his thumbs-up to Indian team coach John Wright, saying the New Zealander was doing a great job and needs to be continued in this role for some more years. Maintaining that Wright has done a fantastic job, Patil, currently coach of the India "A" side, he said that he would personally love to see the New Zealander continue to work with the Indian team for (some) more years. "Because he (Wright) has given results; he has moulded the team into one great unit", said Patil, a former coach of the senior team himself. "Sourav (Ganguly) has done fantastic job as a captain and the team is playing well with John (Wright) and Sourav which is important than this talk about who is going to be next to John. I think John should continue," he said. Patil's comments came when asked if he believed that if India needed to encourage domestic talent also in spheres of coaching, physical training and physiotherapy. Wright, physical trainer Gregory King and physiotherapist Andrew Leipus are all from overseas. Wright's contract tenure is ending in September. "Everything is related to the results. It's a result-oriented industry. John has done a fantastic job. So has Andrew and King. They have given results; they are not just sitting there; they have shown great consistency in their work and also in results. They have helped the team. Fitness level has improved. It's work. Everything is work, " Patil said. On the emergence of a bunch of young fast bowlers, he said it happens over a period of time. "Two decades back, we had great spinners; suddenly Kapil Dev emerged....we were depending on fast bowlers; again now great talent is coming up in fast bowling". (PTI)
