Sunrisers Hyderabad beat Rajasthan Royals by 57 runs
What's next on the menu? The base stays in South India, as next up, we move back to Chepauk. Chennai Super Kings will go up against Kolkata Knight Riders, with the Knight Riders yet to register their first win of the season. That game will be played on Tuesday, 14th April, and the first ball is scheduled to be bowled at 7.30 pm IST (2 pm GMT). But our buildup begins well in advance, so do mark your presence for that as well. Until then, we sign off. Cheers!
The rookies rule in Hyderabad - An evening that well and truly belongs to Praful Hinge and Sakib Hussain. SRH are back to winning ways and lift themselves up to the fourth spot with a lot of positives to look upon for their next assignment. They will now meet the Chennai Super Kings at home on Saturday, 18th April at 7.30 pm IST (2 pm GMT). As for the Rajasthan Royals, despite a heavy defeat, they remain crowned at the top. They will next face the Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens on Sunday, 19th April, at 3.30 pm IST (10 am GMT).
The captain of the Sunrisers Hyderabad - Ishan Kishan says he is definitely happy with the win and the 2 points, adding that this is the kind of performance they expected from their bowlers, who came in and enjoyed themselves. Kishan also highlights the hunger among the young bowlers, noting that they have been working hard with the bowling coach, Varun Aaron. He adds that their performances in the practice matches were encouraging and that they carried that form into the game. On the batting unit, he says the players are in good form and backs Abhishek Sharma's natural approach, adding that if he gets going, he can take the team to a strong total. Kishan also mentions that as a captain, he felt there was some miscommunication in the earlier games when he was keeping, and time was lost in conversation with the bowlers, which influenced his decision not to take the gloves in this game.
PLAYER OF THE MATCH - No surprises here. It's Praful Hinge who wins the award for his fantastic spell of 4/34, including 14 dots. He says this debut was something he had quite literally manifested. Reveals that as far back as last year, he had visualised making his IPL debut and taking four to five wickets, adding that he is a firm believer in the power of manifestation. Reflecting on his journey, Hinge shares he began playing cricket at the age of 13 without even knowing what leather ball cricket was, and had to ask his father to take him to an academy. He dedicates the award to his family, acknowledging the countless sacrifices they made along the way. On his favourite wicket of the night, he, without any hesitation, picks Sooryavanshi's wicket, saying he is in terrific form and that he had actually told a few people beforehand that he would get him out on the first ball with a bouncer. He further adds that a conversation with bowling coach Varun Aaron helped him draw the plan, and it paid off perfectly. On his physical condition, Hinge says he is feeling fine and takes a moment to thank the MRF Pace Academy for looking after him well during his time there.
... Time for the post-match Presentation ...
One of the stars with the ball is up next - SRH's Sakib Hussain says that every player dreams of such a debut. On when he found out he would be playing, Sakib reveals that bowling coach Varun Aaron had informed him a day in advance, giving him the time to prepare and settle his nerves. He credits Aaron, saying he had been working closely with him over the last few months and that all the credit for his performance belongs to his coach.
Reflecting on the defeat - The captain of the Rajasthan Royals, Riyan Parag, credits the way the two debutants bowled for SRH, saying they were outstanding. He admits there were a few miscalculations from their side but adds that they will treat it as a blip and not dwell on it too much. Riyan feels bowling second might have been the better option, though he acknowledges that it is easy to say that in hindsight. He explains that with the new ball, there was some stickiness with the shine on, but once it wore off, it slowed down. Parag says he has not seen much of the debutants in domestic cricket, though he has played against Sakib Hussain before. Mentions that they started really well with the ball, and not bowling Ravindra Jadeja was a split-second decision against Ishan Kishan. Riyan points out that even after being 9/5, getting to 159 shows the depth in their batting. He signs off by saying it is just a blip and they will move on as they head to Kolkata.
The Ishan Kishan show in Hyderabad - Sunrisers Hyderabad crossed 200 once again, though it was far from a collective effort from the top. Abhishek Sharma was gone off the very first ball, with Head departing soon after, leaving the innings in need of a foundation. Kishan provided exactly that, taking time to settle before unleashing a stunning 91 that gave SRH the platform they needed. Klaasen, Nitish Kumar Reddy and Salil Arora then chipped in through the back end to push the total past the 200-mark. Rajasthan Royals will look back at the final five overs with some frustration, having conceded 62 in that stretch. Their overseas pacers, Archer and Burger, were impressive throughout, but Tushar Deshpande and Sandeep Sharma leaked 107 runs in their collective 8 overs, ultimately costing the side in the death overs.
A partnership to restore some pride - The ball got softer, the movement waned, and suddenly, batting felt a lot more hospitable. But RR had already lost half their side, and the hole they were in was deep. Jadeja and Ferreira refused to throw in the towel. Through the middle phase, the two dug in and batted with togetherness. A 118-run partnership, a valiant half century from Ferreira, and some composed batting through the spin overs gave RR's innings a spine it looked unlikely to have after that devastating opening burst. But just as hope flickered, it was snuffed out. Ferreira and Jadeja fell within four balls of each other, and with them went RR's last realistic chance of pulling a rabbit out of the hat. Both the debutants, Praful and Sakib, ended their spells with four wickets each and conceded just 58 runs across their eight overs, in what was a debut they will remember for life.
The City of Pearls unearths the gems - There are stories, and then there are fairytales. Tonight, Hyderabad wrote one in the first three overs. Praful Hinge, on his IPL debut, was thrown straight into the furnace against two of the most deadly openers this season. He came up trumps in style with a three-wicket first over. Sooryavanshi was beaten for pace, Jurel's off stump was flattened, and Pretorius was caught in the deep. Another debutant, Sakib Hussain, looked at Hinge and said, you are not alone, mate. Jaiswal, dangerous as ever, was his prey. Parag edged one to slip to become Hinge's fourth victim, and just like that, RR were 9/5.
Belter bites the batting giants - A graveyard for bowlers. That is what the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium has built its reputation on. A surface that has witnessed scores breaking all the mathematical possibilities. And if the pitch was not daunting enough, both sides had brought their most fearsome weapons to the party. JaiSoorya, the alliance of Sooryavanshi and Jaiswal, against Travishek, the Head and Abhishek combination, two of the most destructive opening pairs this season, all set to light up the night. But sport has a habit of tearing up the script. Two opening pairs that have habitually tormented bowlers for fun, that have made a mockery of totals and reduced attacks to rubble, could not fire at all.
SRH outbowl and outbat RR - Coming into this game, Rajasthan Royals were looking like an unstoppable force, having beaten the likes of CSK, RCB, MI and GT. But it all took two uncapped Indian bowlers to stop this ruthless juggernaut. This victory will taste a lot sweeter for the Sunrisers as there were a lot of question marks behind their bowling unit. Thin on experience, reshuffled and untested. But in the most emphatic fashion imaginable, those doubts just might have been silenced.

Eshan Malinga To Tushar Deshpande OUT!
OUT! CAUGHT! The Royals are no longer unbeaten. A night to remember for the Orange Army. SRH hand RR their first defeat of the season with this 57-run win. Eshan Malinga attempts the yorker but it comes out as a full toss, on off and middle. Tushar swings at it. Slices it off the outer half towards extra cover, where Ishan Kishan settles under it and gobbles it up. Deshpande takes a chance as he reviews with the hope of the ball being above his waist. The third umpire is summoned for a check and he does not even need the Ball Tracker as the ball is below the waist to the naked eye. Malinga finishes with a couple of wickets, but the night belonged to the two debutants who got together and took down the league leaders.

SIX! That has gone back many a mile! Praful Hinge will have to settle for a four-wicket haul on debut. Special effort regardless. Hinge goes wide on the crease on the around-the-wicket angle and bowls the slower, short ball, on middle. Tushar Deshpande waits on the back foot for the ball to arrive and dispatches it way over wide long on for a six. A night Praful will remember for life. 4-0-34-4 on his IPL debut.

Sakib Hussain To Ravi Bishnoi OUT!
OUT! IN THE AIR AND TAKEN! Wicket number 4 for Sakib Hussain. Sakib says to his fellow debutant, if you can do it, I can do it just as well. Hussain's joy knows no bounds. Hussain rolls his fingers over the ball and dishes out the off-cutter, on a length, Ravi Bishnoi has a swing at it but can only sky it high up beside the strip on the off side. Sakib spots Ishan Kishan getting under it after moving to his right from cover and he leaves it for the captain. Kishan does the rest.
Another bites the dust. Ravi Bishnoi is the new batter in at number 10.

Sakib Hussain To Jofra Archer OUT!
OUT! CAUGHT! The two debutants combine, who have had a night to remember. Hussain sticks to the off-cutter, on a good length, on off and middle. Jofra Archer premeditates as he looks to angle the bat face and direct the ramp past short third. He has no pace to work with and he spoons it to short third, where Praful Hinge moves to his left and slides to take a good low catch.

Eshan Malinga To Ravindra Jadeja OUT!
OUT! CAUGHT BEHIND! SRH get the review right and Eshan Malinga has his first wicket of the night. Pushed across off, on a hard length. Jadeja arches back and looks to run it down to deep third but misses. The ball passes close to the toe end of the bat before going through to the keeper, Salil Arora. Arora is pretty confident and Ishan Kishan sends it upstairs. The UltraEdge comes up with a big spike when the ball is near the toe of the blade and the on-field decision is reversed.

STRATEGIC BREAK! It has been the night of debutants for SRH. One did most of the early damage, and the other has just snuffed out any real threat of the Royals pulling off a heist with the wicket of Donovan Ferreira. The Sunrisers should close it out from here. As for the Royals, how Jadeja goes about the remainder of the game is now more about ensuring the net run rate does not take a big hit. Jofra Archer joins Jadeja out in the middle.

OUT! CLEANED HIM UP! Number two for Sakib on his debut and he has his arms aloft, looking at the heavens in relief. A nicely masked slower ball, on a back of a length and just outside off, with a slight nip back in. Ferreira has absolutely no read on it and throws his bat across the line in an ungainly swipe. Misses it by a mile and the ball goes under his bat to rattle the furniture behind. Shivang Kumar To Ravindra Jadeja
Quick single! On middle and leg, on a nagging length. Jadeja hops back and drops it beside the strip on the leg side before setting off for the run. The keeper, Salil Arora, moves across to his right, turns around and has a shy at the batting end but his throw is a loopy one and it balloons well over the stumps. Ferreira was in any way.

Drops it short now, on off. Donovan uses the depth of the crease and hits it down to long on. Just a single.

Another googly but this is fuller, outside off. Ferreira flashes it to deep point for a single. The 50-run stand comes up between this pair.

Short and turning away, that is punched off the back foot, but not in the gap as Ishan Kishan makes the stop at extra cover.
STRATEGIC BREAK! Looks like whatever swing was on offer has waned away now as the ball has gotten softer. The Royals will definitely feel the sting of losing too many wickets way early. But you cannot simply take the credit away from the way Praful and Sakib have bowled on their debut. Though Jadeja and Ferreira have somewhat steadied the sinking ship for the tourists, needing 159 from 72 balls, is still a mountainous ask. Also, the fact that this is the last recognised batting pair for RR. The Sunrisers will aim to break this stand as quickly as possible and expose one end to completely boss the game. Shivang Kumar (1-0-11-0) to continue after the break.

FOUR! Uppish but in the gap! The 50 is up for RR. From around the wicket, on a good length, turning back in, on off. Donovan Ferreira looks to force it away on the off side but the ball kicks up a bit to catch a thickish outside edge. It flies wide of short third to his right for another four.

Rapped on the pads! That is going down leg and SRH do not go for the review. Tossed up, full and on middle. Ravindra Jadeja lunges for the block but does not pick the googly and is beaten on the inside edge. Gets hit high on the flap of the front pad before the ball dribbles away on the off side. The Ball Tracking confirms that the ball was sliding down leg.
The Powerplay is done and unarguably, it belongs the Sunrisers Hyderabad. And more so, to the two debutants - Praful Hinge and Sakib Hussain. Jadeja and Ferreira have brought in a bit of calm in the middle though, through a budding stand. Shivang Kumar is brought into the attack now, replacing Praful Hinge.

Eshan Malinga To Donovan Ferreira
Ouch! Low full toss, tailing back in, towards the off stump. Donovan Ferreira swings at it and picks the bones out of it. Drills it back towards the bowler. The ball catches him on the inner part of the right thigh before deflecting wide of mid off. They cross.

Eshan Malinga To Ravindra Jadeja
Malinga switches to around the wicket and slants it into the left-hander, on a nagging length. Jadeja drops it with soft hands in the vacant mid-wicket region. He is keen for the second run but Donovan is not interested and rightly so, as a couple of fielders had gotten to the ball quickly.

SRH burn a review! Angled in, on a back of a length, on off and middle. Donovan gets on his toes and tries to work it away on the leg side with a closed bat face. He is beaten on the inside edge and wears it high on the back thigh. No bat involved but the Ball Tracking shows that the ball goes over the stumps. It was the adrenaline rush that perhaps prompted the review.
LBW review. Not given on-field. That looked high but Eshan Malinga is pretty convinced and Ishan Kishan takes the review before the timer runs out.

Oh, a risky run! A massive miscommunication, but no harm done. Back of a length on middle and leg, this is nudged off the hip straight to mid-wicket. Jadeja sets off for the single, but Ferreira is slow to react. There is a shy at the batting end but the fielder misses and they scramble through somehow. It would have been interesting had the throw hit.
My word! Who writes these scripts? Donovan Ferreira walks in at number 6. The crowd is right behind Sakib Hussain as he steams in.

The Rajasthan Royals are left shellshocked with half their side down on just 9 runs. Full and wide, inviting the drive. Praful Hinge To Lhuan-dre Pretorius OUT!
