Chennai:  The top seeded pair of Mahesh Bhupathi and Canadian Daniel Nestor were ousted from the Chennai Open ATP Tennis tournament after suffering a defeat at the hands of the unseeded Russian-American pair of Raveen Klaasen and Nicholas Monroe in the doubles quarterfinal.

Bhupathi-Nestor, the favourites to win the title, suffered a shock defeat, losing 4-6, 5-7 to Klaasen-Monroe in 75 minutes in the late night encounter.

Klaasen and Monroe, who won the first set convincingly, combined well in the second to wipe a 0-3 deficit and then went on to win the set and the match at 6-4, 7-5.

With both Bhupathi and Leander Paes having made their exits with their respective partners, Rohan Bopanna and Rajeev Ram remain the only Indian prospects.

The Devvarman and Sergiy Stakhovsky duo are to play Thai brothers Sanchal and Sonchat Ratiwatana tomorrow evening in the last quarterfinal match.
