Bangalore: With the day's best round of three under 69, and a total score of 145 (76, 69) Delhi's Ankita Tiwana showcased some exceptional golf to lead the Hero-KGA Women's Pro-Golf Championship 2013 at the end of 36 holes.
Trailing Ankita by one and two shots, respectively were overnight joint leaders Vani Kapoor and rookie Shweta Galande at the second and third positions.
The Rs 5,00,000 event is the eighth leg of the Hero Women's Professional Golf Tour, which will culminate tomorrow at the KGA golf course.
Kenya's Bhavi Shah shared a part of the limelight on Thursday amidst an average performance through a hole-in-one on the 4th hole.
Ankita, who started with a bogey on the very first hole, stabilised her game quickly with birdies on the 4th, 9th, 13th and 16th holes. She ended her round with the day's best score of three under 69, to comfortably lead at the end of the second round.
Overnight joint leader Vani Kapoor had a rough day as she finished her round with a total score of 146 (72, 74) at the end of 36 holes.
Vani's only respite was a lone birdie on the 5th hole that was followed by three bogeys on the 7th, 8th and 11th holes. Rookie Shweta Galande who was also the overnight joint leader finished with a total score of 147 (72, 75).
Shweta's round consisted of bogeys on the 3rd, 12th and 14th holes.
Veteran golfer Smriti Mehra (79, 70) and Chandigarh's Saaniya Sharma (79, 70) who are tied for the fourth place with identical scores of 148 at the end of the second round also carded the day's second best scores of two under 70, Saaniya playing the day's only bogey free round.
Kolkata's Neha Tripathi is placed sixth at the end of the second round.
